I lost my cat, Idaho, two days ago. He was suddenly paralyzed in his back legs and in tons of pain. We rushed him to the vet. He said that nothing could be done at his clinic but a clinic across town may be able to administer experimental drugs with a low rate of survival. By this time Idaho had been without movement for 30 minutes and was in horrible pain. The trip across town would have been an hour or more in rush hour traffic. I choose to have him put down because I thought there was no hope.

Many years ago a vet said that he had a heart murmer. However at checkups since no vet had been able to hear the murmer. We saw symptoms of problems breathing in times of acute stress (taking a few breaths with an open mouth), but we didn't take the heart condition seriously enough to get an ultrasound, we thought that because the murmer was gone so was the problem. As well he had an x-ray done 3 weeks prior (to find an intestinal blockage) and his heart looked normal on the x-ray. We feel horrible for not realizing that Idaho had a heart condition that needed treatment. For instance, we took him and his brother for a trip in our bike trailer the weekend before he died. They had fun, but we can't help but feel like the excitement might have worsened his condition.

Idaho and I were together for over ten years. He did so much for me, he was so loving, I'm devestated.

I guess I put this post up for anyone who isn't taking there furry loved one in for regular checkups, do it, don't put it off.

Tears and hugs and sorrow from my inside family and my outside family. Our babies are so precious to us. You did the right thing, the loving thing.

I'm so sorry for the loss of dear, sweet Idaho. You did the best thing you could for him, the most loving and selfless thing. It hurts more than anything in the world... Idaho is playing at the Rainbow Bridge now, watching over you. You will see him again someday....

Don't feel as if your excursion caused him any worries. If anything, you have him one big happy memory of you all before he crossed the bridge, hon. He'll be waiting for you when you get there!

I'm so very sorry for your loss. Idaho is in Heaven now, happy and healthy, and he will play with all of our dearly departed furbabies until the day you are reunited. I wish you peace of mind, and a lifetime of loving memories.

So sorry for your loss. I know how your heart aches for them once they're gone.
I still miss my babies! Just think of it as I try to...they are somewhere with no pain, and playing with the other kitties, and we will see them again I hope! :*(
