Hey guys, I was just watching the tonight show (oh man it looks so beautiful in High Definition on my projector, but that's not the subject) and there was a segment that I caught with exotic animals. Among them, they had a Lynx. Man it was beautiful, I called for Zero, but he didn't come, he must have been busy, because this is his type of programming
.

Anyhow, they were talking about how they say hi is to butt heads. It was pretty funny because they kept doing it and made a bit of a joke about it. Anyhow, this is basically what Zero likes to do, especially right when I come home. I assume there is some type of long lost relation in the animal kingdom that causes both of them to do so. The Lynx's butting was more of a tap while Zero is a little more smooth, but altogether the same behavior (it may sound like the way cats rub against your leg etc, but its a little different).

Anyhow, does your kitty do this?

Yeah, I'm thinking by doing this it's like accepting you into 'the family'.

Also he just had this little fox on there, it was so cool! They called it a 'cat fox', ha! It was only eight weeks old, but full grown they said it only gets up to 12-15 lbs, so it won't get any bigger than Zero! I bet he'd have a ball playing with one! It was kinda cool because they said it was the only dog that could climb trees. It's face looked quite cat-like too, like it has a cat/dog hybrid!

Aww, it sounds cute! Sounds like they're confused about what to call it..cat fox, dog that can climb trees (that's pretty cool!), looks like a cat... what is it really?!

My cat Myth butts heads with me. It's really cute too, she gets this look, so I lean down, and she usually will lower her head, and hit my forehead right between her ears. I used to kiss her between her ears a lot when she was a kitten, so I always call it kissing.

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
Rosie always head butts me and i love it
, and for the first time yesterday Sophie gave me my first head butt
.

She normally head butts my legs, but to have it on the head seems more loving.

My new baby does this all the time as well. He'll go walk around the house or out in the garden and when comes back he'll immediately come up to me and start meowing. When I pick him up he starts rubbing his face all over mine. Just too cute!

My baby girl does this with hubby mostly, (she is a daddy's girl) he'll put his hand out and she'll come running and he doesn't even have to move, she takes care of that...

I love the head butting! My younger cat, Kingston, does this to my hubby all the time. He will do it to me every once in a while, but mainly he wants to do it to the older cat, v8. unfortunately, v8 just looks at him like "get the heck off of me kid!" So do you think that v8 won't do it back because he hasn't accepted Kingston into his family even though they are buddies? Or maybe it's just a thing he never learned to do?

There's no place like home
OMG I encourage head bonking in my household. I often pick mine up and give them a head bonk as a greeting (I bonk them with my head). With some we just mash faces together over and over. Some like the simple forehead to forehead bonk. Most absolutely love it and it's a great way to build a bond with your cat.

My over the bridge Max was the head-bonkingest cat I ever encountered, so much so that my final good bye to him (when I released him for cremation) was a head bonk - it was the only fitting thing to do for him. The folks at the clinic looked at me in surprise then started crying. I'll never forget that moment.

My babies don't headbonk my head, as I don't offer it. But Red Cat uses a headbonk against my hand, arms, legs or whatever part of the anatomy is closest to tell me "more, more, more" if I stop petting him during a petting session. He is the most petting-crazy cat I have seen. Once I timed it to see how long it would be before he allowed me to stop without giving me more headbonks or reaching for my hand to tell me "more!" It was 55 minutes! And he swishes his tail 50-60 flips a minute and purrs the whole time. So much for the usual suggestion that nervous flips are telling you to stop petting!

That's so poetic. I bet he was a great guy!
