There are so many I loved. When I was really really younger I loved the Hungry Little Catipilliar....which I ended up buying for my nephew a few years ago. There was also this one book in a series we had about this over weight cat who lives in the forest. She ends up befriending a mouse who helps her lose weight by showing her not to eat when feeling sad etc....I don't know why I loved that book, and the cat was a big orange tabby.

When I got older I read a lot of different books. There were these ones called Taffy Sinclair and they were about this group of girls who hated this really pretty chick named Taffy.

I also read Christopher Pike books. I'll still pick up one I haven't read when I'm browsing in the libarary. I wish he wrote more adult stuff. He has 2 books out that I know of that were both very good.

I did read the Babysitters Club, but I don't know why since I don't like kids, and Sweet Valley high was ok to read every now and then.

I had a LOT of books. I still love reading!!!

You didn't? I knew a Fern at summer camp when I was 13. She was 15 and older, more sophisitcated, and much prettier than I could ever hope to be. I loved her! She always wore a white hat pulled down over her eyes and her long, staight hair. She had perfect teeth and a dimple. She was just as nice inside as she was outside and I never forgot how kind she was to me. I went to camp every summer and saw her the next summer as well, and then never again. I have not met another Fern since, but I have the best memories of that name Fern! We went to camp in Emmitsburg, Maryland, right up at the PA border next to Gettysburg. What a great time in my life!

I knew a girl like that when I was 10 her name was Jill she was a very sophisitcated and beautiful 11 1/2 year old. Wow I'm remembering good things I've forgotten. This is a feel good thread. I wish I didn't have to go to work now

I gotta agree with everyone who said the Ramona books. Also I like Judy Blume. The Wrinkle in Time series was great as were the Naria Books. I loved Doctor Seuss. And I don't remember who wrote them, but I had two books that I loved above all others...Oliver Button is a Sissy about a little boy that loved to dance and McBride's Farm (I think that was the name anyway) about a family that bought a dried out pond and used it for farm land. It always brought a smile to my face thinking about planting something like a pumpkin and having it grow so fast you could ride it.

Around my house it was highly encouraged to read so I always had my nose in a book.

Pretty much my "reading list" as a kid. The first book I remember reading, as a preschooler, was "Put Me in the Zoo". I have no idea who wrote it. In grade school, my favorite book was "The Outsiders", by S.E. Hinton, and anything (The Lottery, The Haunting of Hill House) by Shirley Jackson.

So many, how can I choose? Hmm...

When I was little, "One Kitten for Kim." I still have it and my daughter loves it.

The Secret of NIMH
Where the Red Fern Grows
Pipi Longstocking stories (love the old movies, too!)
Island of the Blue Dolphins (and rest of series)
Watership Down
Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys
Judy Blume and Beverly Cleary
To Kill a Mockingbird
All the Narnia books
LOTR series
poetry of all kinds
All Jack London
All Poe
All Shakespeare (read my first Shakespeare play at 10 and fell in love!)
All ghost stories, mysteries (loved V.C. Andrews), freaky stuff

I read everything I could get my hands on, even if I had to do it with my nose 2 inches from the pages!

Loving my beautiful baby girl
I read so much when I was younger. My favorites were definitely the Little House on the Prairie series. I also enjoyed Charlotte's Web, The Black Stallion, Judy Bloom books, Tom Sawyer, and surely more that just aren't coming to mind now. I also enjoyed reading poetry, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Robert Frost, etc.. When I was very little my favorite books were Dr. Seuss "Hop on Pop" and a Tom and Jerry book. My poor parents had to read them over and over!

Ramona series by Beverly Cleary
The Riddle In the Rune trilogy (first trilogy I ever read, stuck with me

. Although I couldn't read after dark otherwise I'd have nightmares
)
Oh, yeah, and The Saddle Club series

Me, too! Forgot about the Narnia and Secret of NIMH books....I know I'm forgetting many of them. I've always loved to read. In fact, when this Spring quarter was over, my little gift to myself was a new book!
I loooove to read! Anybody who enjoys mystery/suspense should check out Tammy Hoag...Just read her newest one, Dark Horse. Excellent, very talented writer.

In a Missile LCC somewhere...
My favorites when growing up were the Judy Blooms books of Tale of a Forth Grade Nothing and Superfudge. There was another book continuing after that but never read since I didn't know the title at all. Others included the ESP McGee series, "Choose Your Own Adventure" and the "Time Machine" series (which taught me a TON about history) and a few others. Since I'm a Scifi freak, I started to read HG Wells at a young age, then late middle school, I read a few Authur C Clarke, Orson Scott Card, Issac Asimov, Ray Bradbury and a few others. I really tried to get into Shakesphere but just couldn't do it. Later I started to read Dale Brown and Tom Clancy but that was in HS.

my favorite book as a kid was the hobbit.. Also had a TON of sweet valleys and rl stines. I also loved loved loved the whole Tillerman series from Cynthia Voigt, especially Homecoming and Dicey's Song. I borrowed "Forever" by Judy Blume from a friend because mom wouldn't let me read it when i was around 9 or 10, and I really think it changed me forever lol.

What were some of yours?
Brighty of the Grand Canyon - I loved that book! And how about the "My Friend Flicka" series?
It's amazing how many kids were touched by "Charlotte's Web".
