Hi all,

Apologies if this isnt in the correct forum.

Last Thursday, a cat came in through my kitchen window, followed by my 2 girl cats. He was painfully thin, un-neutered, and I could tell he was under nourished. Id never seen him before.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I (as Id never seen him before, and was rater worried) wrestled him into my cat carrier, and off to the vets, they told me he would be collected by the RSPCA and re-homed.

Last night, the SAME cat in in my garden with the girls!

Is this normal practice? Surely no? Surely the RSPCA havent let him back out again? I rang the vets yesterday to check if anyone had claimed him, they said 'no, he was collected by the RSPCA'

Here he is:

I agree, he is adorable! Can you call the RSPCA to see what happened? He sounds like he's decided you would be a good home for him!

Neesey, what ever you do please dont ring the RSPCA.

If anyone get in touch with the Cat Protection, if you need any help finding the number let me know.

A friend of mine is a vet nurse, and a while ago the RSPCA had been called out to a cat foun d wandering the street. Emmas surgery kept it for a week and checked it over and it was found to have a nervous disorder because it went around in circles.

The RSPCA said they could keep it for a week then they would return and put it back where they found it if no one claimed it

Their so caring this organisation

I rang the vets last night, who rang The Bath Cats and Dogs home which is where he was taken.

Someone claimed him, he lives around the corner from me. So he is back, un-neutered and cut to shreds. Why do people have to be so uncaring!

This is the RSPCA for you. Why couldnt they have gotten him neutered. Now he is back, in my garden tormenting my little girls

This is one of the many reasons why i never support the RSPCA

Don't get me wrong when it comes to cruelty to animals they do a brilliant job, but any animal who goes with them is like giving them a death sentence

The Cat Protection who are all over the UK is the charity i support, because no matter how old the cat is, and even if no one wants it they refuse to put it to sleep, where as the RSPCA will only keep them for so long before they end the poor animals days

The annoying thing is, people can get help from The Cat Protection in paying for him to be neutered if they can't afford it themselves, so help is there.

When you say he's cut to shreds, how do you mean, with fighting?

have also had a bad experience with the RSPCA after a cat I had from them became ill and was found to have toxaplasmosis..i rang them to get more background info on him as he was so desperately ill at the vets and they never returned my calls. All i was needing was a little bit more history on him so i could give the vet any clues as to why this could have happened or why his immune system was so compromised. He died shortly after.
Always go with Cats Protection, i have had all but one of my cats from them..and they have always checked out how they are and will willingly offer advice.

I'm amazed at some of the cats that wonder through my yard with no collar, no ID, nothing. There's an incredible long-haired Himalayan that visits me all the time. She showed up a year ago as a kitten with no ID or collar, covered in dirt with a healed crooked tail. I suspected that she didn't have an owner and it was tempting to snatch her for my own. As she visited me over the months I watched her grow and figured someone must be taking care of her because her long fur didn't have any mats, she seemed to be in excellent health and was exceptionally friendly and social.

Why would someone let such a stunning cat walk into my yard? I wish I could tape a note on her saying "OWNER: Put a collar on this cat so I won't want to steal her!"

Sounds like the people around the corner aren't very responsible or caring for this adorable precious kitty! He doesn't look very old

There has to be another option for you! In my area of the US there are quite a few no-kill shelters, some just for cats, some that only foster until they're adopted. Hope it works out for you, your girls, and him. It does sound like he really likes you!

What an adorable little one! I'm very into the natural world and the messages it sends.....he is trying to tell you something and communicate. Something more than just wandering through. Maybe I skipped over your emotional feelings too fast, but do you want to keep him? Do you think you can or?? If you want to, can you talk to the owners who seem so apathetic and dim?
Most cats go where the love is, frankly. Your girls are lovely! This has been very interesting to read what goes on in Britain with UK Kitties!

OSCAR: The Cat Protection is a no kill organisation. They have no goverment help and rely purely on donations from people like myself and other cat lovers.

They refuse to put down any cat/kitten unless it is " really " necessary.

Cats can be in their care for years, and especially if the have been ill treat that they have lost all trust in humans apart from the carers at the shelters.

With being a member i get a magazine from them 3-4 times a year with articles on cats that have been rescued by them and cats that have been rehomed. And you can sponsor a cat cabin for a few £ a month which helps on vet fees, toys, food etc...

We also have Blue Cross which is where they will do treatments and operations free for those who can't afford vet bills.

But as i say the RSPCA are brilliant when it comes prosecuting for animal cruelty, but as far as caring for their future?.

Sasha, yes he is a lovely boy, but I cannot keep him. My girls dont get along with males im afraid. And I already have 2 cats and an 8 week old kitten (Domino) - Ive not seen him since Tuesday, Im hoping he is okay. I leave biscuits out for my cats and the other cats that visit including 'tabby & white' the girls funnily enough really love him, he has been neutered. The cat whom i call 'sidney' hasnt been neutered, and this is why i think the girls dont like him. He tried to mate with one of my two, which is why i dont really want him around.

Rosie, I also give money every month to the CPL, and Im proud of my car sticker too!

Oscar, the vet told me he was about a year old.

The reason why i ask is, it's great that your feeding him
, and it's warm outside, but i'm worried for when the winter comes if they neglect him and the poor thing is left out in the cold
