Blood Removal!

Every nurse on the planet knows this one. It's saved an ENTIRE uniform for me once. Came on shift. went to a patient getting a unit of blood, went to slow it down, the tube came out of the bag, and the whole unit of blood came down on my head and all over me and my uniform. I looked like Carrie, in the movie "Carrie!"

Try to get to the blood stain while still fresh, dry will work, but takes more time. Pour COLD water over stain, or soak. soap area with liquid soap, brush with old toothbrush for a minute or two rinse. Apply hydrogen peroxide over stain...it will fizz...let stand a few minutes. Rinse with COLD water, keep repeating until stain is gone. It has worked for me with any type of fabric/color. Though I never tried silk...never wore a silk uniform..LOL!

Sweets :
Sunburn ??? ....I am an expert on that one ! See my thread at : http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...hlight=Sunburn

" You make a mix of milk and water, in equal parts and soak a breathable cloth in it. Lay the cloth on the burn and replace everytime it begins to dry out a little. I also added 2 ice cubes into the mix to keep it cool. I also had a fan running all night, pointed above my head - not at my face, as the breeze stung, and I wanted to minimise the drying out of my skin."

"...for pain relief and the pharmacist advised the new After Sun by Ambre Solaire - which has some cactus juice in it, to rehydrate skin, and Piritin Allergy Tablets, to deal with the redness. It was brilliant. "

____________

Hope your sunburn feels better soon !!!

My trick is for deoderant on shirts. Save your old nylons with runners, and when you get deoderant on a shirt, take the nylon and rub it over the stain. Removes them almost instantly.

Vinegar takes the burn out of a sunburn or any other minor burn.

Those are some awesome tips everyone! I'm soaking up all the knowledge!

Here's a remedie for you all...
My Granny read in the paper (I believe it was Dr. Gott's column) & someone wrote in about using castor oil on your sore joints. I told her that was the kookiest thing I had ever heard of...until she tried it & it worked! She has terrible knees & they give her a lot of pain, but now that she's been rubbing the castor oil on them daily, the pain isn't as bad. Maybe it's all mental, I don't know...but she swears by it!

Speaking of castor oil, if you have Moles in your yard or garden....mix up your weed sprayer with a mix of castor oil & water. Spray that on your yard & the moles will leave. I was told that they eat the grass & it makes them sick, so they won't come back to you yard to munch. I don't know how true it was but I was told that after they eat the castor oiled grass, it make them poop so much they pretty much poop themselves to death.

You won't see any wax or color on the carpet after doing this!

Have u tried that yet? Let me know how it went!

I have tried that several times and it was very effective!
I remember I got some PURPLE candle wax on LIGHT CREAM carpet so u can imagine how noticable it was! After I ironed the wax out with like 10 paper towels, i was not able to see where the wax was! WHEW!!

Another tip I have for u guys - I have tried this and it works pretty good. (also use newspapers to clean with for mirrors, windows, etc)
Homemade Glass Cleaner Recipe

Mix in a sprayer bottle:

1 cup rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol
1 cup water
1 tablespoon white vinegar

Here's my favorite tip that I use almost everyday. If your sponge or dishcloth is starting to get stale and you want to wash it, don't bother to use your dishwasher or clothes washer ever again. Give it a thorough rinse and squeeze it lightly. Put it in the microwave for at least a minute. It will get so hot that it will kill all the bacteria. If it was smelly, there will be practically no odour at all when you take it out of the microwave, but be careful not to burn yourself.

Before you use your cheese grater spray it with Pam or some other non-stick spray. The cheese won't stick to the grater so it'll wash off very easily.

Also, wash cheese off with COLD water, never hot. The hot water will only melt the cheese and make it impossible to deal with. Using the cold water will harden the cheese so it scrapes off easier. When all the cheese is off, then you can wash with hot.

P.S. Just tried the sponge thing and it worked a dream! Thanks a million!
