My mother cat is expecting kittens
she is about 2 years old now and this is her 3rd litter. The first 2 times she had the kittens on her own and I wasn't around. Now she is in my room and I think she is ready to have her babies. She wants constant attention she was bugging me all night and thats something she usually doesn't do. She doesn't like to stand for very long but she is very calm, I think thats from her previous experiences. I don't know how I can tell if she is ready or not. Are there any signs that will tell me if she is ready for sure?

Tigerlily-

I would like to respectfully ask you that after this next litter is born and weaned that you please get her spayed. You really open her up to some real health issues by letting her breed. From your question, I am thinking you are not a cattery owner, so this is what is termed a backyard breeding situation. Your female will live longer and thank you for not putting her through the stress of mating and delivery.

At any rate, how she behaves will depend on the cat. Each one is different. Some get vocal, some stop eating, some want your around, others chase you away. Just make her a nesting box where she can have her babies in comfort and quiet. In a room where it is somewhat dark with no traffic. But please, a 2 year old female who has had 2 litters and expecting another- please spay her after this load.

I really have wanted to get her spayed but my mom is always saying how she is too busy or that we don't have the money. Trust me I have really tried to press her on it but she says she will take her in and she never does. But thank you for your help
