Can a cat have his/her birthday cake and eat it, too?

Well, today's my b-day, and I'd like to know if it's safe for cats to eat a small quantity of birthday cake. Lucy loves sniffing and eating some cake morsels. My only concern is the sugar content of the cake/frosting and if it will damage the cats' teeth. Any comments? Have a nice day!

Please don't give your kitty cake, instead give her some kippered herring or some sardines as a treat. Even just buying a small pouch of whiskers lickens or something, but nothing sweet and never anything chocolate!

I agree with Hissy! You can do all kinds of fun "just for kitty" stuff. I made kitty sushi for Patrick on his birthday, using moistened Rosie's Rosedust rolled into meatball shape and then rolled in Kitty Kaviar

I've heard of cats getting their favorite - a bit of cooked plain steak, or cooked plain shrimp...there are so many goodies out there that are actually good for them...you enjoy the sweet birthday cake, and give them their own special treat.

I shouldn't admit this, but Jamie pulls his "kamikaze pilot act" whenever there's a piece of cake around, and always manages to get a few morsels. He has also stolen pieces my mother-in-law brought over and left on the table. His faorite is Black Forest Cake. (This doesn't happen too often, but he has had cake a few times without adverse effects.)
