I couldn't wait to tell you all....we had a banger day....112 cats....for the girls: a few were pregnant, many were lactating and some "lucky" girls weren't either...for the boys: we had several with bite wounds...probably from territorial fighting.

Can't wait until next month.

That's fantastic. Does your clinic treat the bite wounds? Whenever one of my cats gets get bitten it becomes abscessed.

We had 7 vets..and amazing enough it was all over by 4 PM. For comparison sake...last year in June (which was my first clinic) we fixed 61 cats.

Do you mind if I ask what your role in all of this was? I'm going to be calling my local Humane Society to find out if they do anything like this and it'd be helpful to know what kinds of roles someone could volunteer for.

Hey Monica....today we had lots of volunteers so I completed rabies certificates...but I've been a spay assistant, transporter (takes cat from station to station) and worked in recovery (watching the cats to make sure they wake up).

P.S. If your Humane Society is curious about the clinic they can contact Alley Cat Allies.

Thanks for the info. This phone call tommorrow should be interesting and enlightening. If they don't know what I'm asking about I'll definitely direct them to Alley Cat Allies! I'm really hoping to hear that they do have a program setup that I can help out with.

Hi Monica,

Did you have any luck? Pets 911 have a site you might want to check out. You type in your zip code and they will list any shelters, rescure groups, etc in your area.

http://www.pets911.com/

It's been my expiernce that the only thing the Humane Society will do for stray or feral cats is have them put to death.
