Hi everyone. A quick update then my question. Charity, the stray and her 5 babies are doing great. They are about 2 weeks old now & all have opened their eyes & seem to be hearing some sounds. We moved them from the bathroom to their cage & so far other than Charity being annoyed with being trapped in the cage
she hasn't escaped from it again & is settling down in it. (I went ahead & got a padlock because she tried to eat the twisty-tie)

Here's my question. How long does maternal aggression typically last? She is still fine with us, but she bit my boyfriend the other night because she heard one of my cats
& that made her really mad & my bofriend was the closest to her.

I am really hoping we'll be able to keep her after the babies are adopted & she's spayed but I'm really worried about this aggression & that if it goes on for too long my cats won't accept her.

Thanks in advance!
Destiny

Destiny, the mother-cat will most likely show aggression towards humans for as long as she has the kittens with her. She is just protecting her babies as nature has taught her to do. She will become tame quite quickly once the kittens have gone to their new homes as you said she is good with you.

She really likes people but if she thinks a cat is around she tries to bolt out of the cage. The bite she gave my boyfriend was more of a reverse aggression I guess because she has never even hissed at us before. Hopefully my cats will be able to forgive her & she'll make friends after the kittens are adopted. My cats are such chickens they are even scared if one of her kittens meows.
