I was wondering if anyone knew some good musicians or groups who play celtic music... Like with the harp and pan pipes and such. Or some old celtic 'folk' songs? I am doing a big project today and tomorrow (turning my bathroom window into a cat seat for Grissom) and wanted some music to listen to.

Have you ever listened to any music by Yanni? I just love all of his music. Right now I am listening to his new album Ethnicity album. It has a lot of tribal sounds that I just love
I can also recommend the Tribute album both are fabulous
Actually I like all of his music so I am bias

Clannad is one of my favourites. I love a Canadian performer named Ruth Sutherland, and I found a website with probably too much information about other Canadian Celtic musicians here. And Loreena McKennitt I think is exactly what you are describing. She plays traditional music, and is also a gifted composer.

Celtic is my #1 fave kind of music

My favorites are Runrig, Loreena McKennitt (you MUUUUUUUST get some of this!!), Great Big Sea (also Canadian), Altan, Dougie MacLean, Peatbog Faeries, Wolfstone - just some of my faves. Can't go wrong with any of them.

In a Missile LCC somewhere...
Ones I like are the Corrs, of course Enya, Lorrena McKinnitt, Clannad and a few others. I have a small collection that I enjoy but haven't gotten anything int he past few years except the new Corrs cd's, whom I am also seeing in concert.

Suil a Ruin is on the Lord of the Dance Soundtrack but I don't know if it is the orginal or not. Other good Celtic music is by the Chieftains, Tommy Makem. He does all the old folk songs and such. (I purchased a three CD of nothing but Celtic music by this person for a project in my music methods class in college.

Kitaro plays tons of instrumental music and their work is so beautiful. Its been a while but I'm almost absolutely certain they have celtic pieces
