Hello everyone,

First I want to say that I'm so glad that I found this website. I have been looking over the post for awhile, and I finally decide to become part of the community
Well I have a cat, and her name is Apple Bottom(isn't that cute). Well i have had her for 3 months, and I love her to death. I don't know how I have lived without a feline. Well my question is that I'm thinking of moving into a townhouse, I currently stay in a apartment by myself. And my mom offered to let me stay with her for like 6 months or so to really save money fast, the only thing is my mom is terrified of animals. She told me I could be a house in the back and keep Apples in there. But I would feel so bad that she would not be around anyone all day. Then I thought maybe I could just keep her in my room, but then I would feel bad if she is stuck in there and she can hear our voices but can't come out. I really do want to purchase a town house so that she would have more room to play,, but I don't want to have to give her up to do that. I thought about giving her to a some friends to watch her until I can get the townhouse because they have other animals and things to keep her happy. But I'm afraid that she will get attached to them and won't come back to me, and that she may get lonely since she is the only cat. I really don't know what to do, do ya'll have any suggestions. I apologize for this being so long. Thanks
Nicole

Could you maybe have your mom come to your apartment a couple times, to introduce her to Apple, and see how she does? She may decide cats aren't so bad.

Is your Mum good at listening? If you did as Viva says, which I think is a brilliant idea, and also tell your Mom just how important Apple Bottom is to you, and that she is your family, would she understand?

That is a good idea, I will try to have her do that and just get her relaxed. But I'm not joking when I say she is scared. She is scared to the point where she just may faint or something. But I will try that and see if it works. Thanks

How old is Apple Bottom? Could you get her a little friend, i.e., a kitten (the shelters are full of them right now), to keep her company? Then she wouldn't feel so isolated.
If your mom is really phobic about cats, she won't be able to make up with Apples. If she's just extremely afraid of animals, she should be able to overcome the fear with small doses of exposure. My father-in-law is really afraid of both dogs and cats, but has always managed to become friends with our pets, though he won't go near "strange" dogs or cats.

I think Viva's idea is good too. Maybe you could also get your mom a good book on cats and their behavior, maybe learning something about cats will help her overcome her fear of them.
