Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help us? My wife and I have just purchased a kitten from a pet shop, it has been home 2 days and it has begun vomiting and also has diahhrea. It is only 9 weeks old and is a male. We are only feeding it cat biscuits and water as recommended by the pet shop, but my wife did give it a little bit of hot dog and I was wondering if that may be the cause. Or is this normal for a new kitten. It hasn't eatten anything since this morning and we did let it outside for a few minutes today. It hasn't had it's shots yet either as the pet shop said it wasn't old enough yet... is that right? If anyone could shed some light on this problem
it would be muchly appreciated.

Welcome to TCS.

I would take him to the vet straight away. Kittens of that age can become extremely ill very quickly. But someone here more experienced should come along soon. If he were mine I would be off to the vet now.

Another welcome to TCS!

I am in agreement with Cilla that you should call your vet and ask to be seen as soon as possible! A kitten that small can quickly become dehydrated from vomitting and diarhea. Your kitten needs to quickly see the vet so that the illness can be assessed and treated! Please let us know how the vet visit goes and how your new baby is feeling!

He really should be seen by a vet ASAP. Kittens of that age should have been dewormed at least twice, and at 8 weeks he should have had his first distemper shot. Being in a pet store, he was probably exposed to any number of things, and wasn't protected.
