Well,my mom has some very elderly neighbor's.Someone set off a calico cat on them a while back and of course she had kittens.Well, they called my mom wanting her to take them to a shelter somewhere(we don't really have a "shelter" per say...it's a little complicated.lol)and my mom said she just couldn't handle doing that and asked if they would at least keep the mom cat if they could get her spayed cheap. They said no...soooo I asked if they kittens were tame. They said yes.Ummmmmm.NO they are not.LOL.My intentions were to at least go take pictures of the mom and kittens and see if they were male or female(supposed to be 3 kittens, but I only saw 2).

Well, the kittens would not come near me and ran everytime I got near them.Ok so I got some food and put it behind a board in the barn(I saw them go behind there). Then I snuck up and grabbed one..then I had a very unhappy kitten on my hands. He was kicking and trying his best to bite me.
I figured since I went all the way down there....and since they were NOT tame..that I better not let him back loose..it would be best to just go ahead and keep him.

I checked and it was a male.I put him in a cage and tried to catch the other one with no luck,so I told them I would try to come back in a few days to try to get the other kittens or kitten however many is left.

I got pics of the mom so I can see if I can find someone to take her.I am just so over run that I really didn't want to bring in an adult cat if I can help it right now,but I guess I will if I really have to,but it will only be foster situation.I am NOT keeping anymore.LOL.

So,anyway this little guy will probably get neutered Tuesday and then hopefully find a home.

I had to bath him and he was not happy at all with that.I had to keep him scruffed the whole time, but he seems to have calmed down a bit now.

Here is pics of him and his mom.

Here is the little guy all cleaned up.I am thinking he is somewhere between 10-12 weeks.Does that look about right??

My other half is going to kill me when he gets home and sees this kitten.

Thanks.
Yes,Mom cat is beautiful.I have always had a soft spot for calico's.I actually have 3 at my mom's.They were just so old(except one was young..but that cat is evil.LOL.Plus she LOVES my mom to death) when I moved out that I didn't want to uproot them from the home they had knew all their lives and mom didn't mind,so I figured it was best for them to stay with her. They are all still alive, too.

Mom is kinda tame.I was able to pet her a little.I am just kinda waiting to see if we got approved for a grant so I can use that to get her spayed on..I should know Tuesday.

If we don't get it I will figure out something with this girl.

I was just hoping to have a home lined up for her before I drug her home, plus I know there is at least one more kitten and I just didn't want to take her until I get all the kittens.
I am weird.I get attached to adult cats more than kittens, and I am afraid if I bring her home..she will stay.LOL.
I may try to find someone else to foster her though.

Anyway..I will get something figured out with the little girl soon.I wish they would just agree to spay her and keep her. They could get it done for almost nothing because we already have one grant BUT it has to be used on OWNED animals only..no strays or fosters..SO that means I cannot use that grant for ME to get her spayed..But got fingers crossed that we get the other one because it can be used on strays and fosters.

Well we had an adopt a thon today and I took the little guy just to see if anyone would be interested.I was just going to tell them that it would be a couple of weeks so I can socialize him some and also he is scheduled to get neutered Tuesday.
But noone seemed interested in any cats today,so I have him on Petfinder and will ask around to see if I can get him a home lined up.We did adopt 5 dogs today, which is pretty good for us.

He is doing a lot better. He isn't trying to bite or scratch me anymore. He shakes a little sometimes when I first get him out of his cage, and I know if I let him get away from me he would hide under the nearest thing he could get under and I would have a heck of a time getting him out.

I showed him to Mike and before I brought him in here I was like "You are going to kill me"LOL.He was like "What have you got?Another cat??"I didn't say a word and just went and got him and he just shook his head and then said"Hand him here."LOL.So he held him for a few minutes.I guess he is used to me dragging cats in.Hehe.

Aww...they are both very cute..and I swear...it was a SLOW day for adoptions today...we had 4 returns...2 adoptions and NONE of our kittens got adopted.
We are hoping for a better day tomorrow (of course I'll be at the feral cat clinic).

I just wanted to tell everyone that the little guy has started purring when I hold him now.He still kinda flinches when I go to get him out of the cage, but I think a lot of it is because when you push the things to open the door it squeaks.
He wants down BAD to play with the others, but he would probably hide from me if he get loose and I would NEVER find him in this house.LOL.

I may let him get loose in my bathroom with a couple of my cats that would play with him,I just wouldn't let him eat or drink from their bowls or use their litter box.He doesn't seem to have a URI at all,so I won't worry about him giving that to them.
Maybe I shouldn't let them play, but he is so pitiful and I know he has to be getting lonely.

This is not a good idea for two reason.
1. For the healthy of your cats. Until he is tested and up to date on shots he is a risk to your cats health.
2. When socializing a feral kitten they need to depend on humans for not just food but also need to depend on us for calm reassurances. We need to become their safe place. This kitten must become more people orientated before you let him run free.
To keep him from getting bored give him toys and at least once a day sit and play with him in a small room(just you and him)

Ok.Well I have some good news.
I took the little guy in to get neutered and our vet's 13 year old daughter was there as well and she fell in love with him.
He was FeLV negative and got vaccinated and neutered and vet checked.
They are going to take him on a trial basis for a few days to make sure their other cat isn't going to totally flip out.
So I told him to cross his paws and make friends with the resident cat.LOL.

I have my fingers crossed that all goes well and they keep him.

Now I just gotta find time to go try and get the other 2 and figure something out about mom cat.

Well, they weren't able to keep the little guy.Their other cat was VERY upset.I wish they would have gave it a little more time, but oh well,I will find him his forever home.

We got the other grant I was talking about and we can start spay/neuters on July 1st with it.So I will be able to get mom cat spayed on that, plus I will get the kittens done on this if they are females(if they are males I can just get them done at school).

I still haven't had time to try to go catch the other two kittens.I have been so busy, but I will hopefully get to them very soon.
