One of the first songs, that I can remember, was "I Can't Stop Loving You" by Ray Charles. His part in "The Blues Brothers" was priceless. too.

Here's an interesting coincidence for you: Ray Charles sang America the Beautiful at President Reagan's 1984 inauguration and at the Republican National Convention.
