So, I talked to the woman who coordinates all of our cats that come in; and foster homes, incoming calls about emergency situations among MANY other things........

So, she gets a call yesterday from a woman who asks if we she (meaning, our cat coordinator) will take care of her cats because she is about to kill herself. OMG....cat coordinator turns suicide hotline. So, she talked to the woman for a while, then called the police and a suicide emergency number, but; of course, the police cannot release any information to her on whether the woman ended up being okay or not and the hotline needs the "person in need" to physically call them in order to help her out.

What a night for both the cat coordinator and the poor woman!! Turns out she's okay and seeking medical/phychiological attention. We are helping her with her kitties in the meantime.

Just want to send a hug out to all of you who have dealt with hard situations in rescue and continue to do it despite these issues!! Please don't stop what you are doing for these furry friends!!

is it bad that I would have told her that if she feels she must, that it would traumatize the kitties?

The coordinator told her that she couldn't take in the kitties and; therefore, she must not kill herself or they would surely be in danger. I know know if that's why she didn't do it or something else, but I thought it was a good idea.
