Hello! I am a new member and wanted to see what advise I can get about my male cat Oliver who has been spraying a lot lately. He is doing well by at least spraying inside the litter box, but it leaks out onto the floor and into the baseboard of the wall. I have an odor neautralizer that I have sprayed where it has soaked into the baseboard, but it still smells in there. And I can't figure out any tricks to keep the spray from coming out onto the floor. The little box has a cover - and it is a large size box. Any suggestions? Thank you so much for your help.

I have read most of the threads regarding inappropriate spraying, etc. All that is very helpful, however, my cat is spraying in his litter box. That is fine, just the problem being that the urine is dripping out of the box onto the floor into a baseboard of the wall. I was hoping for some neat trick or solution to keeping the urine inside the box. It is a covered box so I thought this would keep the urine from dripping out, but he must be spraying pretty high. Any suggestions? Thank you so much!

Does he spray consistently toward the back of the box, or toward one side? If so, perhaps you could try sealing that side of the covered box, perhaps with plastic & duct tape, sort of a sealed hinge so that you could still open it for cleaning.

My other suggestion would be to try cutting an entry hole in a large rubbermaid container, and leave the lid on it so you'll still have a covered box- the pee would just run down the inside of the box.

Those are some great ideas. I will try them! You are so creative....! I love my Oliver and this has been so stressful to deal with. After reading the other threads pertaining to the spraying problems, I should feel blessed he is at least doing it in the right place. I am so glad I found this website. I will surely be on here checking the site from time to time for great information and advise. Thanks a bunch!

you're welcome.

I can't take credit for the second idea, though - someone else on the site posted it a long time ago as a suggestion for another problem, and I've always thought it was a great idea.
