This is to let everyone know the gratitude we have for TCS members Pat & Alix of Washington State who have sent to Sasha a little care package as a donation for his well-being.
As a lot of you know, our 21 lb Sasha was mauled by a coyote in the pumpkin patch on May 18. Sasha managed to fight him off and survived, but eerily it was a year to the exact day his mama SiSi disappeared, and we also lost Sasha's little brother Freddie to leukemia last Fall. Eric lost his job without warning Christmas Eve and I seriously hurt my leg in a ski-mobile accident in January. It has been a tough year in Maple Valley. Sasha is my last surviving one, so emotionally this was yet another devastating event because we thought he wouldn't make it that first night driving to the ER 120 mph with him in shock. He is recovering, but the severity of the attack severed his tongue, punctured his esophagus, and left some deep head wounds and neuorological/psychological trauma - of which he is remarkably recovering and healing at record speed with a positive kitty attitude you wouldn't believe!
But Sasha can't eat on his own yet. He eats with a syringe and he's learning to use his "new" tongue - but the big guy is frustrated and the improvement has stalled. Pat & Alix have sent us a very nice small gift of different kinds of food from their fantastic business and website, and we hope Sasha will be able to start to eat again with their help. We are deeply grateful for their kindness and know that these goodies are not cheap and are off their inventory right now! Eric is a cop and I'm an exec secretary so we aren't made of money and the bills for the vet, as we all know, are topping $2,500 in addition to Freddie's and my own medical costs this winter. I wish I could really express my gratitude in a larger way. Pat contacted me out of the blue and offered skilled nutrition coaching and encouragement. She has been a bright star of stars on a sea of darkness.
I will say something and that is, I firmly believe there are angels who are masquerading as ordinary people here on earth and I think I've just had an encounter. With tears in my eyes,
THANK YOU PAT & ALIX
