I Think My Friends Are Mad At Me For The DUMBEST Reason EVER

As you all know, I work as a nanny for a couple who I'm very good friends with.

A couple of months ago they were asking me a bunch of ?s about being vegan. They knew it was healthy for anyone of any age or stage of life to be vegan as long as you balance your diet (which is true with any diet), but they still wanted more facts. So, last week I printed out some facts on the vegan diet. The info I gave them was all from experts in nutrition...scientists who have studied it for years and who know the facts of the vegan diet. No AR stuff at all, just the facts.

Well, ever since then they haven't been returning my calls. They owe me back pay still and they borrowed three of my DVDs and I want them back. I think they're mad at me for knowing more about something than they do, and that's why they aren't returning my calls. But it's stupid because they ASKED me to do the research for them and get the facts for them! Also, how do they expect to survive college if they can't accept it that there are people out there who know more about things than they do? You meet people like that your whole life...that's how you LEARN is by learning from the experts. There is stuff that they know more about than I do, But I don't get pissed at them for that. I LEARN from them. Besides that, it's not like I'm the one who's the expert...the scientists are! I simply did the research!

Maybe you are misreading the situation and they have another reason for not getting back with you? Perhaps they are embarrassed they owe you money and can't pay right now, or maybe something has come up? It could just be a coincidence that you gave them the information and now haven't heard from them. Give it a few days and just relax and see what happens.

Thats the first thought that came to my head also. Maybe they don't have the money right now and are avoiding you.... just like MA said.

You're going to kick yourself in the head when you find out that the reason they're not returning your calls is because they've had a family emergency or something

Seriously, though...surely this cannot be the only reason. If it is, they are not the kind of people you want in your life anyhow, and that back pay will have to wait until you can physically go there at a time when you know that they will be home. Or send them a certified letter saying how much they owe you and that if they do not pay within 30 you will take them to small claims court or something.

Do you have some sort of a contract with them? What about this kid? Is he/she going without a nanny right now? Are they perhaps worried that you've made their kid vegan or are feeding him/her a vegan diet when you're on duty without their permission? (as if that would kill the kid...lol)

Just saying that this is about the stupidest reason to be angry at someone and there is probably another explanation for their silence. Perhaps call and turn the other way...Hey you guys, I'm really worried about you! At first I was upset and angry because I though you were mad at me, but now I'm just worried about you! Has something happened? I miss you guys!

Something like that ought to throw them right off their track

ehr? yeah I think they either can't pay you or they had somethign else a little more pressing come up.. I can't imagine anyone, even the most unreasonable people being angry because you anwered their questions.

No, I feed her the food they bring over for her. They said she can choose to be vegan when she's older. I'd never choose that for her. My fiance and I are going to raise OUR kids vegan, but Haley isn't my kid.

Although you are right that it wouldn't kill the kid! In fact, she needs to eat healthier. All they ever bring for me to feed her is Spagetti-Os, Mac and Cheese, Hot Dogs, Cookies, and Kool Aid!

Didn't think you'd do that, just wondered if THEY thought you might. It could happen

Well, our phone was disconnected for a couple of days and just got reconnected today, so I haven't heard from them. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt though. We've fought before and they never pulled anything like this. My guess is that something else is happening.

Go slow in this, vinceneilsgirl. I echo what these other posters have to say. Don't "fly off the handle" all of a sudden. It could be that they have had a family emergency like the others say.

Remember this. I don't think they are jealous of you because they think you're smarter. Just remember, there are things you can learn about life that aren't in books. You learn them as you go through life. All through my life, I said things and did things without first thinking about the results. I wish I could go back and ask for forgiveness, especially to my parents. You hang in there and wait awhile. Things'll come around for you.
