My kitty, who I got a month ago, Nilla, has been peeing outside the catbox lately. In the beginning I thought it was my other cat chasing her out of the litter box and put out another one. Then, I took her to the vet when she still did it, and that vet gave her a clean bill of health. But the peeing persisted. So, at the advice of a friend, I went and got a second opinion. The doctor said that she has a horrible UTI and that if it had gone on for another few days, it would have been serious. So if your kitty is peeing outside the litter box- take them to the vet ASAP!!! *off the soapbox now*

Good tip, also the best way and the quickest way to find out if the cat does have a UTI is with a cystocentisis. This is a needle draw from the bladder and the surest way to diagnose an UTI. Sometimes this disease escapes notice when they take urine another way.

Glad your kitty is being treated!

That was the test that the second vet preformed. He also said that that could be what was keeping Nilla and Purple from getting along- Nilla being sick. I'm happy we found out what was wrong so we could take care of it. He said she should get better very fast, and if she didn't to bring her directly back. Also, she gets a checkup next week. So she will be a happy kitty again!!

Hello everyone,

My cat Tiger has a mild UTI. I had noticed over time he was drinking a little more water than usual. I also noticed he was taking a little longer to pee than usual. I suspected the beginnings of CRF or his thyroid acting up. (Tiger is 14.) So I took him to the vet yesterday, and he ran a blood panel and did a urinalysis. He also did a cystocentisis, hissy. I didn't even know what that was, so a ran an internet search on the word and I got this thread! :-) Anyway, he does have a UTI, and I'm giving him an antibiotic. He's supposed to get re-checked again on 8/16/05. His blood work came back perfect! Really odd, considering he's overweight (18 lbs.)

a couple of years ago my cat had that too....she would always pee in my bathtub and there was also blood in her urion...he put her on pills and I had to change her food...Now she is on-purina cat show-advance nutrition-helps build and supports a cats immune system and helps maintain a cats natural urinary ph balance...

she likes it so that is all that matters

hope ur cat gets better soon
