My cat Otis has just turned a year old and yesterday we noticed him acting different. He won't eat anything and will only get up and drink every now and then. He just lays around and seems to have no strength. His head has started to shake every now and then and I don't know what is wrong with him. If anyone knows anything I'd appreciate it if you had any information at all for me.

I agree with blondiecat , you need to get your cat asap to a vet . Your cat could have anything and it is hard for us to tell not being a vet ourself . But your cat don't sound like it is doing good at all , so please go to the vet .

There are too many things that could be wrong for me to guess. This would qualify as an emergency to me, and I would get your cat to the emergency vet tonight.

Cats have no way to communicate with us that they're sick - other than by changes in behavior. This kitty is sick and I'd take everyone's advice and get this kitty to a vet ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you to all who responded. Otis is much better now, he's meowing, eating a little bit, and getting up and moving around. I think he had Hepatic Lipidosis. We had to force feed him so he would eat and now he is doing so well. Thanks again.

I'm glad he's feeling better. He still needs to see a vet. If he has Hepatic lipidosis and he goes untreated, he will not live very long. Hepatic lipidosis is a very serious condition that is often fatal. Please do not try to diagnose your cat if you have no experience.

Cats often do not eat when they are ill. I'm glad he's eating again, but that does not mean he is no longer sick. If it was just an infection, hopefully he'll be able to battle it on his own, though if you or your family are responsible pet owners, you will take him to a vet.
