For the last few weeks, my right shoulder area or whatever you call it (the spot when i put my head back .. it between your back and shoulder?) burns when I play on the computer. It also hurt when I put my head back at work. I dont slouch in my chair either.
Is this that whiplash? Back in March, I got rear-ended and that is where it hurt. But a few days later it quit hurting, but now it hurts again. When I saw the doctor regarding the accident, she put down that it was whiplash. But can it come back a few months down the road? I dont want to go to the doctor and make a big deal out of it, but hubby says if it bothers me to go. Will icing it help and make it go away? A girl at work is a licensed massage therapist recommended going to a chiropractor because she felt my back and says it's out of alignment. But, I am not sure about chiropractors, either.

I vote talk to your doctor first. Ask the Dr. her opinion on chiropractors, and see if she will reccomend one.

Icing might help, a warm bath and relaxing might help, reducing the stress in your life might help, medical attention might help

Heck, even a massage might help.

It sounds more like stress/tension than anything else to me, but definately see a Dr if it is bothering you. Make sure it isn't something else.

I hope you get to feeling better,

In a state of insanity :)
I don't know how late whiplash can show up after a wreck, but a chiropracter can work wonders with the back. My lower back slipped out of place not to long ago and mine eased it back into place and relived the pain to the point that I could actually move without screaming and
. Whatever you decide to do I hope you find relief soon.

Pain from a whiplash can recur long after the initial injury. Try alternating ice packs and heat until you can get to a medical professional. Just don't keep the ice on longer than 10 minutes at the time. You may have an adhesion in your muscles, or have an adaptively shortened muscle from favoring it after an injury. Your friend that is a massage therapist should also be able to tell you if this is the case. I agree with you about chiropractors, I find them a little scary. A lot of people swear by them, though. One of my teachers is a chiropractor, and he has helped a shortened muscle in my shoulder, but the thought of alignment and adjustments to my spine scares me. I hope whatever you do, you get some relief soon.

So far out in left field I got lost
Oh yeah the whiplash symptoms can come back. I have been in several accidents (3 in 1 year) so I feel your pain. I worship my Chiropractor
Dr. B has releived my pain on numerous occassions. A lot of times I can't walk or hold my head up. I have to wear the "flea" collar when I can't hold the ole noggin up
I go and see him and within a week no more pain from the neck shoulders. When I fell in the shower my right hip popped out of the socket, Dr. B put it back and I was able to walk again without a lot of pain. I go on occassions to get aligned so that way I am not in a lot of pain all the time.

Do talk to your Dr. first to get his/her input on the Chiropractor. Try alternting between ice and moist heat 20 minutes on and 30 minutes off. For moist heat wet a hand towel and throw it in the microwave for about a minute, place it in a ziplock bag so you don't soak your clothes or furniture. It seems funny that you put it in a ziplock baggie but it works
Take some advil or motrin to help with the inflammation and pain. I hope you feel better real soon.
