My very good friend Shannon stopped by last night to tell me that her cat Winky is missing. Winky is an indoor cat only, but got let out by mistake. Shannon is very close to Winky and is very worried. She only lives a couple miles from me so I have been keeping an eye out for her, but so far Winky has not shown up. This is the cat that Shannon almost lost when it was little...it was a bottle fed kitty, only a few days old when she found it...she nursed her back to health and is extremely close to her. My heart goes out to her because I know how worried she must be with Winky being out there somewhere and not knowing where she is or if she is okay. I believe in the power of prayer so please send up a prayer for winky if you would.

I am praying for Winky now, Debby, that God will lead her safely home. I am also praying that He will give Shannon comfort, she must be so worried about her baby.

Any news yet Debby? Our neighbor came to me yesterday in tears - her cat has been missing for 2 days. I helped her to prepare ads and post them. Later that afternoon, hubby and Ron went with her all around the neighborhood calling out the cat's name. By the time they got back home, the cat was waiting for her on the porch. I hope there's a happy ending for Shannon and Winky as well.

You may want to send her this article -

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
Sending up a prayer, Debby. However, in addition to the article Anne posted a link to, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE open this link and give your friend the info!!!!!!!!!!!! Katie (TNR1) posted TODAY this article about the Lost Cat Recovery Program of Feral Friends org in TX. BUT - it explains the behavior of most lost cats, especially if they're indoor only cats, and it could mean the different between finding Winky and not!!!!!!!!

Here's the link: http://www.feralfriends.org/lostcat.html

Here's a quote from the article:

" They're closer than you think. Research indicates that most lost indoor-only cats are hiding much more closely than most people realize, generally within a 2-3 house radius from their home. They hide in sewers, under storage buildings, between fences and under decks - in the smallest and most unlikely places you can imagine. These cats are frightened and revert to feral cat like behaviors - hide, stay quiet, and don't move."

The article goes on to discuss what to do.

Good luck to your friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WINKY IS HOME!!!!!!!!

After several days of being gone...Shannon found Winky in a field not far from her house! Winky is okay and doing well, although I am sure her experience of being away from home for that long was scary! (I know it was to Shannon!)
It is just amazing that this cat who is an indoor cat only could survive out in the country for several days and still be unharmed and come home!!! God does answer prayers and I know he heard all of yours, and I want to say a HUGE thank you to all of you who responded and cared and prayed for or sent up good thoughts for Winky.
Shannon wanted to reply to you herself and tell you Winky was home and how much your thoughts and posts meant to her...she has been a registered member since 2000, but rarely posts...problem is, she wanted to reply and could not remember her password to log on so I have e-mailed administration to have them e-mail it to her. If she gets a chance she will thank you in person. But if not...trust me...your thoughts and prayers meant alot ot her! I think it is encouraging that we read posts where even though someones beloved cat is missing for several days they come home...even if it takes a few days...because I think that gives others hope who may be in the same situation some day...don't give up or think the worst!
