One thing I love about cats, is that they are all so unique. If I am busy and my cats want me they have different ways of getting my attention.

Pebbles is so gentle and very softly touches my leg with her paw and stares straight into my eyes, it is so soft I hardly feel it.
Felix does his "brr brr" noise and then quickly climbs up my leg.
Tara runs to me and makes a very soft meow.
Buttons jumps on top of me whether I be standing, sitting or walking.

How do your cats get your attention?

if socks wants my attention, believe me he lets me know!
he will either take a run and jump up my leg...which really hurts or walk up to me making those chirpy noises

Each day when I get home, Bella is either in front of the door, or on the arm of the chair. She perches much like a griffin, but leaning forward with head tilted to one side and mewing to me with her left paw extended, as if to say, "Come here, I wanna tell you something!!" As soon as I approach, she headbonks my hip, tries to "hug" my thigh, and then hops down and heads to the kitchen - DINNER!!!!

Scarlett twirls around on the floor in front of me, and mews occasionally, looking up all the while. She's very shy about it. Sadie comes and sits on me. Gin runs up to me and either rubs against my legs or walks across my lap. All 3 of them are in the habit of following me from room to room when they so desire. That is also what they do when they are hungry - stalk me until I feed them

Sasha sits on the windowsill right above our bed pillows and peers down at me like a leaning tower until I look up and respond. There he sits and leans, two light green eyes just staring quietly into mine. Somtimes he bends over and licks my nose. He also does this "tapping" thing w/his paw. He will sit beside me and start to tap me w/his paw every 5 seconds or so until I pay him full attention!

I am a web designer and work from home, so my kitties are with me all day and night. But sometimes they get a little sick of my computer
So...

Frodo - when I'm at the desktop computer he will claw my hand on th keyboard by sticking his paw between the slide-out drawer and the bottom of the desk. Don't know if that makes sense, so here is a pic (without the claw!
)

If I'm not at the desktop but sitting he will jump on my back/shoulders and bite my head. If I'm standing he'll jump on the highest thing nearest me and leap at me to TRY to get on my shoulders.

Moth - Moth thinks she is Siamese. She has the loudest mouth I've ever heard on a cat. The only time she STOPS talking, is when she is asleep. Even when no one is paying attention to her and she's just walking around, she is talking, cooing, brring, whatever. When she wants my attention, though, she meows this particular deep, long meow that sounds like she's in distress. She probably figgered out years ago that this "distress" meow made me come running when her other vocalizations will not. Now she is the cat who meowed wolf!
She does it just so I'll come running, the little turkey!

Pookie - Pookie worships me. But he figured out a long time ago that I do not like him to scratch furniture, in particular the back of either of my very expensive office chairs. When he first started scratching my chair it was not to get attention, but to scratch, but it certainly got my attention! So now, no matter where in the house I am, he will go scratch one of the office chairs and then sit there and meow VERY loudly to get my attention. If I don't come quick enough, he scratches the chair again and meows until I do! Somehow he doesn't understand, "THE BREAD IS BURNING IN THE BROILER!" or "CAN'T I PEE IN PEACE?" Although, I can't remember the last time I peed alone. They all follow me in there. Why is this so exciting for them?

If I'm on my laptop he doesn't bother with scratching the chair, he just does this:

Dori, she just walks up and bites my leg
When she is feeling nice she will walk over and look up at me with the sweetest little eyes and meow. When I pick her up she climbs up to my shoulder and snuggles

That was fun to read

I got a couple like you all mention in here , but the computer room is off limits for the cats . That is my dog Toby's save heaven from the cats
.
When I am sitting in the living room watching TV or so , there come Marquise and meow at me and his purr machine is on . If I don't pay attention there come a loud meow and still purring . After that here he goes MEOW and a very mean look with a tail bouncing left and right . By this time he is a little ticked at me
then if I still don't pay attention he just jumps right in to my belly mmmmmpphh and MEEEOWWWW at me still with his tail all shaking left and right
No need to say that by that time I make sure I pet him and he is all calm again and purring up a storm

Isabelle sits next to me and paws at my wrist repeatedly... if that doesn't work then she nibbles my wrist until I pay attention to her.

Audrey makes a little meow sound and rubs up against me.

Zoey comes and sits right down on me or next to me. If she doesn't get her attention soon enough sitting down or if I'm standing up she meows loud and sharply at me.

Amelia meows as if she is going to die in the next 5 seconds. If I ignore her she keeps meowing louder and longer until it almost sounds like she's howling. I always wonder if my neighbors hear her and think I'm beating my cat or something she's so loud. The only exception to this rule has been when I am sitting on the couch lately and then she comes up and sits right down nicely. This recent change in behavior has been much appreciated and I've been making sure she knows it.

Casey stands down at the foot of the bed, or on the floor by the couch and looks up at me until I acknowledge him. Then he comes up and he'll make some chirping sounds like he's talking to me. He's an amazingly polite boy.

Clarence normally just bounds right up onto my lap and there is no ignoring Clarence. He's huge. He needs 2 laps to sit on! In the kitchen, he meows at me, especially if the food bowl is low. He used to roll around on the carpet in front of the door when I was on my way out as if to say... "Don't leave me!" It made going to work very tough because I'd have by work bag and purse with me and I'd have to try to pick him up and move him. And he's nothing but dead weight when I pick him up.

So many different ways. Cats are incredible creatures. It is great reading about all these different personalities and the way they know us inside out. Hope a lot more of you share.

My Muddy has attention getting perfected: He stands on his hind legs and stretches out his front paws as high as he can get on me and meowls at me. If that doesn't do it, he'll just jump up from the floor into my arms (I only missed catching him once).

The others simply hop in my lap.

I've really enjoyed reading all of these!

The way DiMa describes Moth is just like my Amelia! The Cat who cried Wolf!

JC likes the YOWL!!!! method. You can hear him three doors down (seriously - we've had comments from the neighbors). He'll also pat my face if I'm sitting or lying down. If I'm behind a closed door he'll throw himself against the door and yowl at the top of his lungs. He's not good at being subtle.

Tristan does a little mew and just looks at me with his big pleading eyes
Unless, it's past breakfast time and I'm still sleeping... then he'll come up to me head, purr like it's going out of fashion, and rub his bum all over my face :p

Charlie has a rumbling cooing mew to announce he's going to leap onto my desk and so I should stop what I'm doing and love him. He has very inapropriate timing on this one. And he never seems to want my attention otherwise. Though, he will lay in the middle of a room with his belly up waiting for belly rubs - but he's a belly rub ***** and it's not neccessarily MY attention he's seeking

Fluff doesn't like to ask for attention - he likes to be begged for it. So he'll come up to where I am, and just look at me, maybe a little mew to let me know what's going on, but then it's up to me to talk him into actually jumping up to cuddle with me. He's never really lacking attention, as I scritch his head everytime I pass him. Not all my housemates practice this ritual, though, and if they walk by him while he's chillin' on top ot the catbox, he'll shoot out a big furry paw and slap their leg to reprimand their lack of scritching

If I'm sitting at the computer, Nakita will sit directly behind my chair and start moaning!
Then, if I don't turn around, she will lie down on her side and expose her belly for some rubs.
If that doesn't work, she will wrap herself around the legs of the chair and start rabbit kicking them to death.

By this point, I'm usually laughing so hard because her face expressions during her rabbit kicking session are priceless!

Socks just gives me a nip on the back of my leg.

(It was actually kind of cute this morning -- I was putting my makeup on and Socks wouldn't stop nipping me. Mum says it's 'cause Socks thinks I'm pretty enough and I should spend less time with that muck and more time with my kitty!
)

Sadie is a weirdo and usually likes to gnaw on the hem of your pants. It's really bad on days when I wear knee length skirts, 'cause the poor darling doesn't quite know what to do! Other than that, she just gives a loud wail that you couldn't possibly miss.
