Today Ethan had baseball practice. It was a really nice day so I decided to leave the back door open so Sam and Sally could roam freely from the house to the back porch while we were gone instead of making them come in. As we were coming home, the boys wanted to go to Jon's house and wash their gear from this weekend's riding. If they hadn't said that I would have driven straight to his house since I planned to go there after practice. We got home and there were my cats, sitting side by side on the FRONT porch. They looked at me like "it's about time you got home". My first instinct was to grab them before they ran away, because they both looked pretty nervous about being caught outdoors, but I remained calm and asked them just exactly what they thought they were doing and kept talking to them until I got right in front of them. They just stood up and greeted me as they would if they were indoors. I picked them up and got them back inside safe and sound. I checked out the backdoor and they had pushed the screen out. They are grounded to the house now until I get the screen fixed. I'm so thankful that we came home when we did or who knows what would have happened to them. They could be gone for good since all they have for identification is a tattoo in their ear saying they are fixed. After this, I have decided to get my cats chipped. The rush from catching them outside like that is too much.

That must have been quite a scare, Abby!
What a relief you came home when you did! Getting them chipped sounds like a great idea. Will they not where collars? I don't blame you one bit for grounding Sam and Sally for a while!

They refuse to wear collars. Sam will wear his but acts like it bothers him. Sally wriggles out of them. The last time I put it on her and she tried to get it off, she ended up with it around her neck and under her arm.
