Several weeks ago some boys in my sister's neighborhood built up a huge stack of wood for a bonfire. They never got around to setting the fire until tonight. Sadly, a momma cat had nested in the woodpile with her kittens. The momma cat escaped, but the two kittens could not get away. My nephew and the other boys heard the kittens crying and managed to rescue both of them. Luckily, both were only singed -- the vet found no burns and said their breathing was okay. The vet thinks she is about 3 weeks old. The family of one of the boys has taken one kitten and my nephew brought home the second. She is a black kitten with longish fur and blue eyes. Her ears are folded and she is a sweet little baby. Unfortunately, my sister just returned home from a double mastectomy (breast cancer) and reconstructive surgery and is simply unable to take care of such a young kitten (she already has two large dogs and an adult cat). My nephew is doing all of the feedings, but he will be leaving for college in a couple of weeks.

So...we're desperately looking for a foster (or permanent) home in the Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Durham, North Carolina area. Is there anyone here who can help or does anyone know of a shelter that could take such a young baby?

I picked up the kitten this morning .. she is sooo sweet .. and lotsocats your sister is a very nice lady * nods*

She is doing very well .. i have fed her several times now and she has both peed and poohed .. she really hates having her butt wetted .. Phew .. but after its all done and she is picked up she will purr like crazy.

right now i have her in my front pocket shirt i made so i could have hands free time and still keep her nice and toasty

Kevin, my fiance, is in LOVE he now calls her my kitty so i think that we are keeping her and not going to find her a home after all * looks around .. does a happy dance *lol*

I also took some pictures .. please don't mind the formula on the nose she had just fallen to sleep after nursing and getting "burped"

qtkitty,

Thank you so much for helping out the way you have! You and Keven did great on such short notice.

I'm sure you guys will have a blast with her, and it's about time you posted. I was bursting with beans to spill!

I just love those little feet of hers!

I am soooooo excited that you gave this sweet baby a home! I haven't seen my sister sincer her surgery. I'm glad she is up and moving around.

I'm so excited about this I'm going to give you a blob-o-rama to celebrate the kitten's adoption!

lotsocats she seemed a little tired when i saw her but she seemed like she was doing well concidering the "major" surgery.. my mom had a histerectamy ( is that how yah spell it Hmmm *lol* i cant spell
)she was down for months .. but she had saved up all her sick days from work .. she is a school teacher .. she just did not feel right for about a year after ... if your sis just had the surgery reciently then she is doing super dooper * nods*

Sends her some
so that she gets better a lot faster *G*

the kitty is doing terrific .. thing for sure .. she ate a touch of "solid" food today .. it was more like a little cat of science diet canned kitten food .. and then had her bottle .. now she is once again
.. and in about an hour she will wake up and take a little more bottle and get her butt wetted .. she isn't eating as much as when i brought her home but i think i must be feeding more often i am not sure though.. she is truely a wittle angel !!

Ohhh and also i wanted to tell Everyone in the world this hehehe one of our baby
bunnies opened its eyes today !!! YAY !!
