Hi...
I am the "mother" of 4 cats - two are mine, two are my boyfriends. We merged about 5 months ago and things have pretty much settled down (ie: they are pretty well getting along now). Sunday we took two of the cats (one of his (Butch), one of mine- Bailey) to the groomers and had both all shampooed and trimmed up for the summer. Bring them home and, of course, they are all skittish from being at the groomers. My cat Maddie goes up to sniff my other cat, Bailey, who is now all clean and trimmed, Bailey is startled and turns around, hisses and swipes at Maddie. Now, ever since that Maddie, even at the site of Bailey hisses and growls and snarls, and once swiped at Bailey as she was trying to walk by. Maddie is hissing at Butch (the other cat that went to the groomer), but not to the degree that she is with Bailey, but that could be that she didn't interact as closely with Butch as she did with Bailey cuz she and Bailey have been buddies for the past 5 years. Is it the fact that Bailey was shampooed and now smells different that has caused this "issue" between them, or that first interaction after Bailey got home and Maddies now mad at her? They were such good buds before, now Maddie is just nasty towards her......will this go away? Randy says that this hissing usually happens between Butch and Sheila when they get groomed every year - they have had this done before, my cats haven't, but that the hissing usually goes away in a few days, but I've never seen Maddie act like this. I feel so bad for Bailey. BTW, Maddie and the other cat, Sheila are going to be going in to the groomers here in a couple of weeks themselves........
Thanks for any insight.
