My cat is 13 yrs. old and keeps vomtiing mostly bile every day, once or twice. Two vets say there is nothing that shows up on any of the blood tests, or urine or xrays. Bloodwork was sent to Texas A&M. Came back normal.
We need help, he is our baby and he is losing weight. Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong?
Thank you for your interests.

At that age, there is just things that start to go wrong. Did you take him to a specialist? Did they run a tox screen on his blood? He could just have a hot bug in his system and they can't pin it down. I would find a second vet, a feline specialist and have them take a look at him. I would even opt for an ultra-sound if you can afford it. But I would definitely not take their word for it that nothing is wrong- because obviously something is.

Push fluids on this cat, you can also add rice bran powder to canned food and make a brothy type mixture to help him. Give him some GSE (Grapefruit Seed Extract) in his food, about 2 drops a day to help his system. Do you know how to check for dehydration? Pinch the scruff of his neck lightly, release. The skin should fold down to normal in seconds. If it stays tented up he needs a vet quickly!

OMG...poor you...I was going to suggest the vet..but it sounds like they have found nothing wrong with your cat. Is there something your cat could be getting into...does he eat plastic or any plants or things that he shouldn't be getting into??

Just as another avenue to check...the Best Friends Forum has a section that is answered by a vet who may have some other suggestions:

http://www.bestfriends.org/idealbb/forum.asp?forumID=12&sessionID={357F90C4-5670-4CEB-82B3-7C9FCFA0EF89}

I do hope you find out what is wrong with your cat.

Hissy,
Thank you so much for your sugesstions. I know there is somthing wrong. I have had him to 2 vets, one only does cats. He came up with no answer. He did recommend a ultra sound. Perhaps that is my next step. Again thank you very much

I very much agree with what Hissy has said. Have you asked your vet if you can use (as is done with many kitties who vomit due to having kidney failure) pepcid ac (not the complete, the ac) - Patrick is on 1/4 of a tab once a day and it helps him a great deal. I would not do so without your vets approval, but it's worth asking them, just to provide a bit of relief until you find out what is wrong. Here is a page that discusses vomitting and nausea (with cool links to medical sites with information on this) Info on vomiting and nausea and here is a page with treatment options (includes the pepcid ac and slippery elm bark, plus a link to how to make slippery elm bark into a liquid for giving orally) Treatments for nausea and vomitting .

Even though this is a site oriented for care of cats with crf (chronic renal failure) the information is excellent and may be useable for you.

Best wishes for finding out what is happening with your kitty soon,

I have a 21 year old mutt feline with almost the exact same problem. She tends to vomit like clockwork at 0500. The only food that will come up is if her eating "curve" intersects with her barfing schedule.

Once my cat throws up...it's business as usual. Perky, alert and bright-eyed. Go figure.

I have a trusted vet who is going nuts trying to figure this out. Nothing conclusive. Tried the Pepcid route, anti-biotic route and antacids of various types. No luck.

We have tile floors and have just tolerated it feeling a little defeated.
