One of our members just shared a heart-breaking story with me, and needs our support. One of her long-time friends of over 30 years was trapped in the tower yesterday. He called his life-partner to say his goodbyes and after the tower collapsed, his partner killed himself. She is so upset about this and it would be really healing for her to maybe hear some words of encouragement and support over this very sad affair from people who she considers family which is you........

I wish there was something to say that would make her feel better, but with a loss like this there is nothing that will erase the pain and agony she is feeling. With time she will be able to go on with her life...permanently altered and with a scar on her heart...but the pain will be less sharp and the grief will become more mild.

My thoughts are with the woman Hissy wrote about, with Catarina who also lost friends, and with the many thousands of people whose family and friends were killed in this cowardly act.

Quiet skies

The skies were quiet today,
Only still clouds over my horses grazing,
Peaceful and unaware
In the promise of cooler Texas days.

I kept on working today,
But slower than usual,
Ungrounded and distracted
Yet it seemed to help
Blur the screams.

I lowered my flag today.
And she never blew but instead
Sadly wrapped herself around her mast
Grieving.

I took a break today,
And met my old sorrel in her pasture.
Buried my face in her neck,
Breathing in her sweetness,
Leaving tears on her shedding summer coat.
She seemed to know
To stand still for me
And rested her head on my back
Slowly breathing.

The skies, they were oh so quiet today.

I am so sorry to hear about the tragedy! I can't even begin to imagine what was going through their minds or even having to say good-bye over the phone! I will say a prayer and light a candle for all parties involved.

To whomever, on this board, is now suffering from that awful tragedy: My heart goes out to you! Please know you are in my prayers and thoughts; and I shall likewise remember your dear friend and his partner, both innocent victims of cruelty. I hope you can stay strong and endure the unbearable pain. (Should you wish a cyber-shoulder to lean upon, please send me an electronic-mail or private message.)

Words cannot express what I am feeling for this person & all the people who have lost someone in this senseless tragedy. Just know that you will be in my prayers. Call on God, he is always with you. Brandy
