Hello,

I have a calico (callie) cat and she is one of the most temperamental cats i have ever meet. She always has her tail between her hind legs and when ever she get mad or scared she poops on what ever she's on. she does use the litter box just not when she's mad. what can i do about this? it's driving us nuts. her and our other cat (kitty) don't get a long at all but they all they do is growl at each other but every now and then kitty wants to play with callie and callie get mad and poops on the floor. she's not a bad cat i just dont think she likes us.

thanks in advance.

Hey Jon...welcome to the site. How many litterboxes do you have?? It is recommended that you have at least 1 per cat. Also..have you taken her to the vet to rule out any medical issues?? As far as the cats' interaction...it may be a good idea to get some Feliway spray. That helps to calm the environment for cats. Also..how old is Callie and Kitty??

Hi Jon,

She sounds like she is in some sort of distress. Can you give us more of a background on her? How long have you had her? Where did you get her? You ideally need two litter pans per cat, with two cats you would really need 3 pans. How clean do you keep the pans? That is always an issue for cats, as they are pretty clean critters, and don't like smelly spots to pee or poop in.

Where are the pans placed? A private but secure area with a fast exit nearby just in case?

Callie and Kitty are both three years old. We got kitty from a friend who didnt want her anymore and we got callie from the SPCA and we are not too sure of her history. We took her to the vet and they said nothing is wrong with her. Right now we only have one litter box but we are planing on getting another one.

We clean the litter boxs every day sometimes twice a day depending on how bad they look.

Hmm- any idea why this cat is so "mad" acting? Does she have a spot that is all her own where she can get away if she wants? Like a cat condo, or a high shelf? Does Kitty pick on her? Are there small children in the home who yell and scream in typical small kid fashion to put her on edge? I know in our home with hubby who is hard of hearing and not liking to wear any hearing aid, we yell at each other in almost normal conversation, is something like that happening here? Do you punish her in anyway when she poops on herself or other items?

Sorry for all the nosey questions, but we can only help you if we know some of what the environment might be like for the cat in question. I am not insinuating anything here, just looking for perhaps an answer to her odd behavior. Is she inside only?

no not a clue. we both love her very much

yes she does. kitty dosnt get the the couch so callie stays on the top of the couch next to the window.

Does Kitty pick on her?
kitty just wants to play but we have gotten her to leave callie alone by giving her the little mice to play with. we tried to get callie to play with them but she wasnt interested.

Are there small children in the home who yell and scream in typical small kid fashion to put her on edge?

No.

I know in our home with hubby who is hard of hearing and not liking to wear any hearing aid, we yell at each other in almost normal conversation, is something like that happening here?

no there is some yelling between my girlfriend and i but not on a daily basis.

Do you punish her in anyway when she poops on herself or other items?
yes we have to give her a bath becuase she normally ends up sitting in it and she has poop all over her back side. we give her a bath in the sink with just the standard kitchen sprayer and warm water.

she is an indoor only cat that we take out side on the front pourch with us every now and then.

just keep asking the question. i'll be glad to answer.

Thanks again,

Jon
