Grissom has been very vocal since we adopted him, but only at certain times. He meows his head off from the time my feet hit the floor until I leave for work, and it isn't that he knows he will be home alone, becuase his father is home a few hours after I leave and Grissom does not repeat the behavior before Rob leaves. He also meows when we first get home. I was wondering if there was a sort of seperation anxiety in cats, like there is in dogs and this might be a form of it. Or if there was something else? He has been to the vet and is healthy in this regard, and he was extremely independant in the cat room at the humane society, so I don't think its missing companionship. Any suggestions on what the cuase might be? Or methods to curb it slightly?

Thanks so much!

You might consider getting him a snugglekittie. He sounds like he misses others of his own kind. You might also think about adopting another kitten around his age (once he has been cleared of any health issues) because cats are really social, and in their early stages, they crave company. Sit with him while he eats, on the floor next to him and just talk to him softly. Play with him every day with an interactive toy, offer him snuggles and love and he should be adjusting soon. You have not had him very long and his world has been completely turned around. You know he is better off, but he doesn't know it yet.

I'm thinking about adopting another kitty in a month or two once things are settled around here, but we have been told he has chlamydia and I'm not sure about bringing in another kitty when it is contagious. Thanks for the advice!
