Before my mom and I take her cat for radiation treatment ($$!!), I'm curious because after searching the internet for more information on hyperthyroidsim, all the symptoms listed seem to include significant weight LOSS. This cat is FAT. Before I jump all over her vet, is this possible?? The other symptoms I've seen listed are poor coat condition (not this cat!), possibly patchy bald spots (nope!). Anyone have experience with this?? Thanks!!

Hyperthyroidism

Hi,
I am assuming your vet made this diagnosis based on bloodwork results, and I would accept that as enough (plus she/he may have been able to feel that the thryoid was abnormal on palpation).
Fwiw, my Christopher<RB> was plump! when diagnosed with hyperthyroidism...his one symptom that caused me to take him in..diarrhea. All else seemed quite the usual with him
