Do you realize that in 3 months, yes 3 short months, we will start seeing Christmas stuff on the store shelves? I know my walmart had stuff out in august and some other stores did also.... scary isn't it? Just thought I would pass that one on...

Earl, you just had to remind me, huh?
Since I work for Walmart, it's a never ending battle & the Christmas season is about half of the year for us employees.

I know what you mean... I worked at Toys R Us... Thats bravery there with all of the kids.... BLAH... but I know the grown ups can be even worse... ALOT worse. I remember one year getting in a truck in late july. I was shocked to see all of the POS and display stuff for Xmas. It beat halloween. But I feel your pain... trust me on that... Thankfully I never had to work on Dec 26th though.

As if realizing TODAY that my youngest son's bday is next weekend wasn't enough!!!
..And I was just getting used to standing in line at Wal-mart for only 30 minutes.

I love Christmas!! Right after our anniversary in August, I start to actually think about what people would like for Christmas...I start to buy in September, it's just better that way for me because I don't have to shell out lots of money at one time!

I'm Jewish, and during Xmas my Christian friends (especially if this is the first Xmas we've known each other) are always afraid that they are offending me in some way. I always tell them that 1)I'm not offended, because even though as a Jew I don't believe Jesus was the messiah I have no problem with Christians believing that as it is part of your faith; and 2)I have celebrated the holidays of other religions with my friends and they have celebrated with me. This has nothing to do with faith, but with fellowship. I've even celebrated Ramadan with Muslim friends...who accrding to some are supposedly the enemy of the Jews. But anyone who has ever read the Old Testament knows that we are actually brothers.

I start in July, right after Mom's birthday. That way, I've got all of the gift holidays out of the way, until Christmas.

I get started right after my own birthday in August. However that does lead to me finding stuff early in the year that was supposed to be given at Christmas that I had stashed and ddin't remember.

I recall watching CNN last boxing day and they were interviewing shoppers. All normal stuff with people talking about returning gifts or taking advantage of the sales. Until they reach this person and she said she was taking advantage of the sales to purchase presents for the NEXT christmas. I could tell you I was shocked much like the news anchors.

I think Christmas stuff and shops are not that bad. What is bad is them playing christmas songs and nothing but christmas songs one whole month before christmas on certain radio stations. I really enjoy this particular program hosted by this person called Delilah (Queen of love songs as she calls herself
) but with her non-stop christmas songs, I really had to change the station or rather just simply not turn the radio on.

That is a huge trend now in radio, dropping a format for 2-3 months and have it Xmas 24/7. Good ratings move too as it showed in the past winter quarter... expect more stations this year to start doing it. I know out here in Denver we have one that does it now, I wouldn't be surprised if we had 2 this year.
