ON my FACE!!!!!!! not a week before the wedding and now this!!!!
here's how it all started. the other day I thought I had a zit on my face so I took out the clearisil pads to clean off my face so it wouldnt' get worse, well, for some reason, now it is oozing, itching, and spreading like a small rash.
it isn't a zit that's for sure. anyone have any quick cures I only h ave a week and I don't want to go to my wedding with a huge patch of yuck on my face! I tried to cover it up with makeup the other day for the Bowie concert but it turned out to be a bad idea, the skin around it started to peel because of my using the clearisil on it, and it just oozed. Brad has poison ivy on his legs and I keep telling him to put something on them because I don't want to get it, well, to late I think! it's on my chin! this sucks! Help! I need to get rid of it fast!!!!!!!!!

I have an appt at a dermatologists tomorrow. I don't think I can use steroids. I'll have to ask. I am on seizure meds and so I'm very wary about what they give me. I hope it goes away before the wedding! darn it! I give up!

thanks for the info though, I"l write it down and see what he says..

When you go to the Doc, ask for a shot of kenalon (I know I'm misspelling it) I get poison Ivy at least 3 times a year. Its the state plant for NJ.

I have learned over the years to control it. You have to clean the oil away from your skin. And don't touch it. I usually clean it with rubbing alcohol using 1 swipe only over the rash. Then I apply a cortisone cream. Then I cover it with a bandaid, which is just a reminder to myself not to touch. I can usually keep the rash to 1 or 2 blisters in each place.

Now for the bad news.
It takes 2 weeks to get rid of it. And if Brad still has the urishol on his legs (the oil) then he can spread it to you!

Good luck
Sandy

I thought it'd take about that long to get rid of it, but I was hoping for a medical breakthru that would heal it in three days or less...
LOL!
well I know that I'm marrying a disc golfer and I guess I have to deal with this right? I just never thought he'd spread it to me... he usually has been so careful. but I think I may have found the culprit
. I haven't washed our towels for a week, and we've been reusing them. I guess I didnt' even think that Brad with his poison ivy could be spreading it onto the towels. usually I wash the towels when we get low but with everything I've had to do this past few weeks, I kind of let it get away from me, so I guess it's my fault if I got it from them.
I took them all down and washed them in HOT water and dried them on the highest setting to kill off any remaining Yuckies that may be lurking on them. Hopefully that killed the possible spread of it. I won't be doing that again EVER! no more reusing towels, that's gross normally, but I had no choice this time, well no matter what, they will be done from now on....

Right on top of that, took them off the bed this afternoon and washed them.
another thing I did was researched the nasty stuff online and found some stuff called Tecnu that is supposed to get rid of the oil if you think you may have gotten into it, so I bought it at the store, hopefully it'll work.. I'm off to bed and to the doctors tomorrow. I just am hoping that it turns out to be something other then poison ivy but I highly doubt it.. thank for all the help everyone. I'll let you know what happened after work tomorrow night.

I hd poison ivy once, and I have no idea where I picked it up, I had not been anywhere near a plant. I was shopping at the local farmer's market, and remembered leaning against a concrete pillar, and the poison ivy rash was on the back of one arm, so that must be where I got it. That stuff is nasty.

The good news is, although the rash may still be there on wedding day, the blisters should be gone. And once they are gone, you can cover it with really good makeup. Just be very very careful that you don't touch anything once you have touched the infected area. You don't want that spreading to other parts of your face. I would suggest that you see a makeup person at the drug store or department store, they should have some good advice about a foundation to use to cover it for the day.

My doctor gave me Prednizone, that worked really well. And Benadryl for the itching.

Oh you guys, all this time i thought it was poison ivy, I was so wrong, it was ipantaigo( I dont' know how to spell it) so now i have a cream to get rid of it and I cant kiss or hug brad or let the kitties rib against my face until the rash clears up! darn it, although they say that it should be gone by the wedding!
so I'm hopeful that in 10 days this horror will be over! and everything will be back to normal!

Loving my beautiful baby girl
Barb, impetigo is extremely common in children, but can occur at any age. It is most commonly seen on the face. I can see why you thought it was poison ivy! Well what a relief that you know what it is now and you are treating it so it will be gone by the wedding! Be sure to carefully wash your hands each time you touch the affected area, like when you apply the cream! It also may be a good idea to use separate paper towels for drying your hands. Just a couple of thoughts!

Girl you are having a L of a time before the wedding
I'm glad that you know what you have got but I know that your stress level has to be over-the-top right about now. Pamper yourself these next few days and try to relax. Get well fast vibes headed your way

Movin' on up!
I've had impetigo twice, at 11 and 25. Both times, the doctor prescribed Phisohex scrubs, Amoxcillin and Bacitracin ointment. It is very contagious (my brothers and I shared it, the first time). I wasn't allowed to go to school, until it went away and missed the first week of 7th grade.

The second time around, I camouflaged it with pancake makeup.

With consistent treatment, it should clear up, within a week. Phisohex is off the market now but any antibacterial scrub will do.

They actually gave me a cream for it. I'm not sure what it is called. I'm supposed to use it three times a day until it heals and goes away. they also gave me four pills to take 2 one day and 2 the next but I'm not sure of the name of those either. I'm blanking out on alot today...didn't sleep well. drank to much water and was up alot last night LOL!

I second this!!! It is very contaigous and not only can you infect Brad, but you can re-infect yourself! Try using a cotton swab to apply the cream!

I usually wash my hands and dry them on a towel then I will throw them into the washer and wash them on hot water and dry them on high heat. I"m learning!!! LOL! I"ll kick this or die trying...yikes, better not say that, at the rate Murphys law is catching up with me, it might happen goodness forbid!!! on to the countdown... 8 days to go.....
