Hi there gang!!!! My kitty cat marmalade loves fancy feast :-) Chopped Grill is her favorite :-) When I feed her she tears through it in seconds and she has been eating 3 cans a day. Is this too much?? How often should you feed a kitten??

Thanks!! Jeremy and Marmalade :-)

Each food manufacturer has different feeding instructions. They are all based on what's in the food, and the age/weight of the kitten. Read the feeding guide on the bags and cans, and feed what they recomend.

Hi Jeremy,

Marmalade is a cutie pie
Per one flavor of Fancy Feast that I have in the house, the recommendation is based on weight of your cat, as well as by age. If you consider Marmalade to still be growing up until a year, and feed "as a kitten", you would want to feed up to 2 cans of Fancy Feast for every 3 lbs Marmalade weighs. If Marmalade is a 6 lb. kitty, you might want to then add one more can, for a total of 4 Fancy Feast cans per day.

Are you feeding your kitty wet food only or is this in addition to a dry cat food?

Jeremy, I would be feeding Marmalade a good quality kitten dry food as well as the wet food. She can free feed on the dry food (up to her daily limit as per the feeding instructions on the bag) and it will help with her hunger.

Just a thought, you might want to get a worming treatment from the vet and give her that, just in case, as worms can sometimes cause an unusually large appetite.
