Anyone have any good suggestions for getting a cat to allow you to brush/comb their backside? One of my cats, Purdy, is a long-hair and sheds soooooo much, that though I brush or comb him daily, I never really get the job done. He is quite tolerant for a while, even lays on his back and lifts his front legs one at a time so I can comb properly under them. But he just won't let me comb/brush the back of his back legs and under his tail. Whenever I try, he always want to turn and face me, sit down (so I can't) or leave. He now has some bad matting there, which I need to tend to. But how?

This fountain was purchased because it was not plastic and saw it on a site on constipation for cats and was promoted as one that cats would use. However, it is expensive. It is very heavy,...

I had to use a dropper with this since it was kind of hard to put it in my cat's ears. I cleaned my cats ears first, then I put the R-7M cleaner in her ears. Next, I inserted 10 drops into each...

It is the most economical litter I have ever used. I only put a layer of litter in the pan that will cover half the pan. As the cats use it, it turns to sawdust. When its all dust you dump it....

This is probably the single most important toy I ever bought. I got it when my boy was a kitten and two years later, he still plays with it every day.

Two,
In our experience, if a ZoomGroom won't do it, nothing will. Our two love to be ZoomGroomed, and before we got one for Samwise, Miss Kitty, an ex-feral, had never permitted brushing of any kind by anything.
All the best,
Jim

Oh, I did get a Zoom Groom within the past month or so. It does a lot of good, getting the hair closer to the surface. It always amazes me the handfulls of hair I get out of that cat each day. But it doesn't seem to get the deeper stuff. A regular cat comb with medium fine teeth works well for it on the back, for as long as Purdy will permit me. But he just won't let me use either of them on the back of his legs. And using the Zoom Groom tends to bring a lot of hair there and to the tail itself, which I'm better able to get. Right now I can feel some huge mats on the back of his legs.
I have taken Purdy to a groomer twice in the past year for a bath and complete grooming. They have some way to harness a cat in to manage. But I'd really like to be able to figure out a way to do a better job at home and not subject him to the trauma of a groomer too often.
