Cougar's headache thread just reminded me to tell you all what happened yesterday, I can't believe I forgot. I actually couldn't wait to share. Yesterday afternoon I started getting the worst headache. By the time I left work it was hurting so bad I felt like I was going to be sick to my stomache. I drove straight home and lwent straight to bed. I was having a hard time falling asleep because it was hurting to lay down. Dori must have known something was wrong because she for up on the bed and laid across my neck. (I was laying on my side) this isn't uncommon for her because she normally sleeps on my head
Anyway, she was purring like crazy and I finally fell asleep. I woke up 1 hour later and my headache was all gone! When I woke up Dori was sleeping next to me. I didn't take any medicine and I have had headaches like that before and 1 hour of sleep with no medicine wouldn't normally help. I called my mom right away to share the story, she said she saw something similar on a talk show once and the explanation is the heat the cat puts out acts like a heating pad and relaxes you. Whatever it was, it was awesome

That is awesome squirtle! Maybe the purring/vibrations helped ease the nerves?

I was once very ill (gangarine in gall bladder) I was in terrific pain, and too ill to go anywhere for help. My Hercules lay across the pain and I could feel the warmth from his body. He never left me until I was able to go to get a taxi to take me to hospital. He took the edge off the pain enough for me to stumble up the street, and I'm sure he saved my life.

Cats are just amazing in that capacity. I don't have any miraculous stories, but we call Ophelia our little nurse kitty. We know when we are sick because she will be right there with us. Sometimes she knows before we do. Maybe a month after she came into our lives (she was a feral kitten), before we could even touch her, I got really sick and was in bed solid for 3 days. For those entire three days she slept on the pillow next to me. I still wasn't allowed to touch her, but she had to be close to me while I was sick.

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
If ever i have a really bad cold, all i want to do is lie quietly and suffer in silence
, but it's as if Rosie knows because she'll just curl up on my lap and stay there until i need to pay a visit to the bathroom

Loving my beautiful baby girl
That's so sweet!
Dori really is a healing kitty! When I feel bad, Sierra is always the most wonderful comfort I could ever imagine. She never leaves my side!
We're so blessed to have such loving babies!

Actually, recent research suggests it's the cat's purr that is beneficial to people's health: http://cliniciansbrief.com/cb/capsul...03capsules.asp

Dori the healer
You go girl, hey I know who to call now when I have one of those crazy headaches
Three weeks ago when I had surgery The Sammycat, Oscar and Ceasar wouldn't leave my side. They all had to be touching me somehow, it's so nice to be loved
