Brandon, you are NOT having migraines. You are definitely going way overboard, with the OTC analgesics. In addition to stomach problems, they can fry your liver. Has your doctor ordered a neurological workup? An osteopath is a good doctor to see. D.O.s can perform spinal manipulations and, unlike chiropractors, can prescribe meds, if needed.

Years ago, when my chiro was right around the corner, I found that he could stop my migraines, at onset. If you can treat the headaches, without meds, all the better.

Lately, my garden-variety headaches have been responding to moist hot packs, applied to my neck, cool packs around eyes and forehead and a low-power vibrator on my temples.

Woah, thanks for all the replies!
Yeah Im pretty sure that Im not having migranes because I don't have any trouble with my vision, or sensitivity to light, etc.
Kiwideus, Ive never heard of a Migrastick before. Ill check out some of the local health shops around here though. Thanks.
Charlie, dont worry I know you weren't saying I had a drug problem
, and even if you were I would not mind. Theyre just OTC pks afterall. About the MSG, I think its going to be pretty hard to monitor the amounts of those in my food. Although Im going on my workout meal plan for the summer, its still probably full of unhealth addatives or preservetives.
Cillia, yes he checked my BP. I always seem to have a very low BP when I get it checked, but it varies from 98/60 to like 127/something... so it depends on what kind of day im having
I agree though. My sister and I both thought that the doctors were very quick to diagnose, but that seems to be how all the docs on my isurance are.
Hissy, Im not so sure about accupuncture since Im deathly afraid of needles ( I think its the one thing in the world that could make me pass out)
Mabye if I was asleep during the process... hmmmm
Mom of Franz, I heard that coffee was bad for your adrenal glands or something, so I haven't had any for quite awhile. If it gets rid of headaches though, Ill give it a shot. Thanks.
Katl8e, my doc didn't order any neurological workup or anything.

Thanks again for all the replies! A lot of members on this board seem to be very knowledgeable when it comes to medicine.

Oh and thanks to everyone for all the replies, they all help.

Peace,
Brandon

You should take a moment and evaluate how much water you drink a day. Some headaches are caused by dehydration. Especially since you go to the gym regularly. Do you drink any fluids before/during/directly after any cardio work out you've completed? Keep all this in mind. Plus, I don't know if you drink diet sodas or sugar-free foods, but in my experience, I have found that aspartame gives me terrible headaches and upsets my stomach. Caffeine is also something you can try to combat these pesky headaches, but that comes with it's own list of side effects, and depending on how much you do or do not drink already, you can choose if you want to try that.

Humm...How long have you been off the caffeine, and when did the headaches start...might be caffeine withdrawal. I wouldn't worry about your adrenal glands...3/4 of the world would be in trouble if it were true, and I'm sure you would have to drink tons to hurt you. Actually, caridologists recommend it in moderation. Remember coffee is an ancient drink. As an aside, a fascinating read came out a few years back about coffee, I saw the author on BookNotes on CSPAN profiling his book. Uncommon Grounds: The History of Coffee and How it Transformed the World, by Mark Pendergrast. I highly recommend it, if you love not only coffee but history...it's a real eye-opener...LOL!

Since I was in college I had head ache everytime I wake up in the morning. My doctor said, I should stop taking aspirin or any other medicine for head ache, and he told me to wear eye glasses, when I stop wearing my eye glasses I get a head ache. Last February, I went to my Psychiatrist, cause I am always depressed, he gave me an anti-depressant medicine, it's called Zoloft. When I start taking that, I did not even notice that my head ache is gone

I've had daily chronic headaches since I was involved in a car accident several years ago.
Since then I have also had what's been diagnosed as migraine headaches, often debilitating. I really prefer not to take medication but frequently depend on acetaminophen. I am severely allergic to all NSAIDS like Ibuprofin, naproxen sodium.. For the really bad migraines I've tried Midrine but didn't find it very effective.
I'm going to check into finding an accupuncturist in my area. Thanks for the tip, Hissy.

Lots of water and regular eyetests have more or less halted my headaches. I am ashamed to say that when I went for my last but one eye test I had to have my script doubled because I had not been to the optician for so long. I have promised myself I will go at least once a year if not twice because since I have been wearing the new glasses my headaches have almost completely disappeared.

Mom of Franz, Ill look into that. Im not sure how long ago I stopped caffeine, but it was awhile ago. Ive had my headaches for awhile too, but theres no way I could get exact dates on either of them. Ill try coffee then, thanks for the info.
With regards to water and eyetests: I drink about 12 cups of water a day. Sometimes I go for 16
Plenty of water is essential for building up muscle mass. I got my eyes tested a month ago (I go pretty regularly) and I had near perfect vision, so no problem there. The water thing reminds me though, do you think that a creatine supplement would have anything to do with it?

Thanks,
Brandon

IA. If you need me, just meow..
I've had headaches everyday four about 6 years now. every since I had my first seizure. I get up in the am and about 30 min later I have a killer headache. It is due to the fact that the chiro tried to put my neck back into a position that it shouldn't have been put in. Now I have headaches all the time. they are at the base of my neck to the top of the right side of my head.
I take Topomax to get rid of them. It works alot better then anything else they tried to give me. I also used to take lost of OTC drugs to help to get rid of the pain but nothing worked so I was mixing lethal doses of different things. 3 Tylenol with 2 Aleve, or 1 Aleve with 3 or 4 Midol( sometimes it was the only thing that helped) it was terrible. thankfully I don't have to to that anymore, My head still hurts on occassion, but I'm looking into Accupuncture, I just am nervous about trying anything with needles.....
