Is it pyometra, is she pregnant, or are these just normal ribs?

Mamam had her last litter February 21st. She is fat in the ribs part but empty just in front of the hips. Is this normal or is she pregnant or does she have pyometra? If this is another litter, isn't she supposed to bulge in the behind part of the belly? She does look like she is pregnant when lying down but when walking she has a small "waist" and a lot of empty skin. We joke around that she needs a tummy tuck
She won't let me touch her belly, so I can't feel for babies.

More questions:

I want to get her spayed, but not when there are babies inside. Would an x-ray show if she is pregnant? Wouldn't the x-rays harm the babies? Pyometra shows in an x-ray, right?

Your cat should be spayed even if she is pregnant. That is the sad reality of the over population issue. Please at least take the cat to the vet, have the vet check her and if she isn't pregnant leave her to be spayed. Yes it is horrible to think about aborting kittens, but what is worse? Having the vet do the procedure, or letting the cat have yet another litter of kittens and when they find homes, they might not be spayed and or neutered so the cycle continues and somewhere, another cat or two or three dies in a shelter because there are no homes available for them because of another litter of kittens. What a horrible cycle us humans have set into motion here.

x rays will not hurt the mom cat.

Mamam is a feral, isn't she? I agree with hissy. You said she was an old girl so it's best to take her to a vet for a full check-up and spay. The vet will be able to tell you if it's a pregnancy, pyometria or perhaps worms. Thank you for taking care of these ferals, you are doing a wonderful thing.

I would do my best to get her in to a vet...if by some chance she has a pyometra, it's honestly can be a life threatening situation. The vet can tell if she's pregnant by x-ray but less expensively, should be able to tell by palpation.

I've had one cat with a closed pyometra...there was NO sign whatsoever that she was ill, we were lucky to have already had her scheduled for a spay the day her pyometra became an open one with noticable discharge.

good luck, please keep us posted?
