cats love olives

can someone tell me why my three cat love olives so much that they will lay on the floor and rub in the area where the olive was while they were eating it?

I don't know why, but one of mine does it, too. It's like catnip to him!

First of all..welcome to the site. That's odd...my cats have never wanted olives.

My old cat, Freddie, LOVED olives...they had more effect on him than catnip. I think it was because of the high salt content in them.

Welcome to TCS, zsazsa! Sierra has eaten olives, but she's never gone wild over them. Believe I'll pick some up tomorrow!

My Mango loves olives--even olive juice, I always have to give him an olive when I'm making martinis. He's not so keen on the Kalamata olives though he likes the "regular" black okives. He also likes brie and pita bread--what can I say, my baby's a genius!
