Hello
I am new here, my name is liz and we just adopted a 4year old female peterbald, and I have a few questions, to those of you who have or know anything about this breed....one of my questions is how i the temperature of the house should be?? We keep it at 75-76 degrees. Another is do you think she is too old to play around, all she does is sleep
she just gets up to go eat and to use the litter box..I've heard that peterbalds have the same personality of a siamese, but she is not active at all, do you think she might be cold that she just wants to be sleeping under the covers?? or she is still not used to us that she might not want to play?? She follows us around when shes awake and she'll lay on our lap so i dont know... yesturday we saw her playing with a wrapper on top of our bed she was jumping up and down going crazy but when I try to play with her she just ingnores me. Thanks and if you know anything about a peterbald that I didnt mention can you plese tell me

Hi Liz:

Congratulations on your new family member!

While every cat is different, I think this girl just needs time to warm up to you and your family and get adjusted in her new environment. As far as a Siamese disposition, while a good deal of Siamese are very people friendly and outgoing, you do get an occasional one who is quite aloof and doesn't fit the "Siamese profile". Cats, like people, definitely have their own personalities!

I think that many of the questions you are asking, especially the one about temperature and Peterbald care, are best directed to the breeder of your cat. I'm sure they would want you to contact them with any questions you have, as they would want this cat to be as happy as possible in her new home. After all, they had her for the first four years of her life, they would know her inside and out!
