I know this probably belongs in the SOS forum, but I'm posting it here so everyone can see it.

I heard on the local news here (22 NEWS for anyone in the Springfield area) that there's quite a problem with Western Mass animal shelters... they've practically reached their maximum capacity. Which means they'll have to euthanize unwanted animals soon to make room for more. (it breaks my heart to use that term--unwanted) Only if more people would adopt animals and give them loving homes.

God, I wish we could take more animals here. We've got 4 cats as it is, and 3 people here also. All in a pretty small house too. If I could take 'em all, I would.

I am in Southeastern MA, and as far as I know there isn't any shelters anywhere nearby. I haven't lived here all that long ( less than a year ), but from all the people I've asked, nobody knows of any shelter near by. Its too bad that you guys in Springfield couldn't send some of those pets this way for others to adopt!! I am sure there are people in other parts of this state that would be willing to adopt. Just a thought.:tounge2:

There is a shelter in downstate NY that comes to the Second Chance Shelter in Shaftsbury VT every so often and releives the overflow. The info I have is sketchy, but they have said they cannot keep enough cats for the people to adopt - they all go so fast. I will get the name and post it here for you as soon as I can
