I think we've pretty much exausted all common theories. The vet has confirmed UTI, and his culture is more to validate the severity of the infection and make sure that he prescribes the correct antibiotic.

Fair warning about the following paragraph, I may be repeating information you already know, so please don't take offense. I have seen too many people that either didn't know any better, or that just refused to follow the instructions.

--------

One thing you ABSOLUTELY MUST do is give him the full course of antibiotics; DO NOT Stop the antibiotics unless he has a reaction to them. If he starts acting better and you still have Antibiotics, KEEP giving him the regular dose, unless directed otherwise by your vet. Antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria are caused by failure to finish the full course of a prescription. This not only makes the next infection worse, but quite inevitable. Please, Please, Please Please Please...follow your vets directions as closely as possible regarding the dosage and frequency of the antibiotic medicine. If you have any questions/concerns be sure to contact the vet ASAP.

You've done a great job so far, Orei has a great owner wether he knows it or not. Pat yourself on the back and take a deep breath, he will only get better.

Please keep us posted on Orei, and remember, he will get better

PS...Enjoy your camping trip, and don't worry about Orei too much, okay?

Thank you for responding! I promise to the fullest that I will keep on giving Orei his mediction as well as I can. Thank you for your advice and kindness,it has helped me feel a bit better, and relived me on what to do. I'll keep you all posted here on how Orei is doing, and what the vet said he has. I most certainly hope he recovers well. Thanks so much for saying that about me. I was hoping I was doing the right thing. I will keep Orei in mind on the trip, but mom is a good kittysitter.
I'll try hard not to worry to much. Thanksfor everything and I will tell you what the vet has said when I come back on Sunday,or if the vet calls, today before I leave.

He WILL get better...just believe in him (and give him the meds
)

Whenever you are close to done with the meds, take him back to the vet and have him checked again.

As always, please keep us posted....and tell Orei to get well soon (like yesterday)!

Oh, Jenny. He will get better! You did the right thing taking him to the vet! We know that you love Orei so much and you're going to take the best care of him! Is he taking his medicine OK? I'm not sure if your vet. may have mentioned this or not, but it's important to be sure to give Orei ALL of the medicine that he was given! Even if he acts like he's feeling better! Otherwise, the infection won't be completely cleared up! A lot of people quit taking their own meds just because they start to feel better and think they don't need it anymore. Thank you for keeping us posted!

Thanks for being here for me guys. You have made me feel so much better. Orei took his first pill this morning. We gave it to him with soft cat food. He ate the whole thing up without even noticing the pill.
He is feeling much better,I will tell you everyday about his recovery.

Okay I have ( after all this time) found out why Orei has been crying out at night. He is still infected with UTI.
He needs another dose of meds. Poor Orei.
He just won't get better. I have tryed SO many things. We are going to a vet only for cats. The Cat Docter, we are hoping after the new round of meds, will help the poor little guy.
What do you think I should do? I pray he will get better. ((((((PRAYERS))))))

Keep trying.

Sometimes these infections are persistent, and take a little while to clear up.

What I would suggest is that this time around whenever you get close to the last few doses of Antibiotics, have the vet recheck him.

He'll get through this...and you will too.

You may also have to switch antibiotics a few times, but only do this with your vets advice.

Orei knows you are trying to help...and I'm sure he really wants to get better also.

When your vet did a urinalysis, was his urine acidic or akaline? It will definately help matters if you can get it slightly acidic. Usually only requires a slight change in diet.
