My baby tom,Orei,is having a series of amusing/worrisome behavior. He is walking around the entire house crying. I call to him "come here, baby" and he comes to me with a shoe in his mouth. I look under his favorite spot, under my bed,and there is a mound of shoes! I really need some help, because my whole family is complaining of disappering shoes!
Does Orei want to be a father,or is he trying to get my attention? Has anyone had this happen to them? Please reply if you know anything. Thanx!

What's his basic story...

I would not personally suspect any kind of paternal instinct related to hoarding the shoes.

The crying concerns me somewhat though. Is he crying to no one in particular, or does it appear to be directed at someone/something? How old is he, and what is his medical history? Is he exhibiting any other abnormal behaviorial patterns?

Orei will be two in July. Unfortuany,we got Orei from a shelter,so he has been pretty sickly. He had a cold when we adopted him, then in a few months a sist.
He also had a litter tract infection. Poor sickly baby.
He just crys out to no one. He might be perhaps to me,though. He crys while coming to me. He has a few other patterns.
He pees in other areas, but that is about it....
Sorry about not giving enough information.

The shoes still puzzle me, so I will leave that to the other members to hypothesize on.

However the crying out, and urinating in other places, does somewhat concern me. I wouldn't jump to conclusions here, however, it does seem in line with symptoms of UTI...Urinary Tract Infection. I would presume that since he came from a shelter, he was previously neutered, if this is not the case, please correct me.

How long has he been exhibiting this crying out behavior, rough guess? Have you tried giving him at least two different litterboxes? Also, have you made any changes with his diet, or have you noticed any significant eating habit changes?

Lots of questions, I know...but anything you can answer will only help us help you

Thank you very much for your kindness.
Orei is nutured, and he has had this strange behavior for about 2 weeks. I think he may have UTI,we are taking him to the vet soon, but I am still puzzled and worried. They have one litterbox, should I purcahase another? There is not changes in his diet,he eats Iams, and eats with his best friend and sister,Princess. There are two food bowls out. Please help. I am so confused.

I'd suggest getting a second litterbox, if this is feesible, most cats seem to prefer diversity.

I would also definately get him to the vet, as soon as you can. This isn't an emergency, but if you've ever had a UTI, it's also not the most fun ailment to have either. Even better, if it isn't a UTI, the vet will be able to tell you this, and will more than likely be able to tell you what the problem is definatively.

Please keep us all posted...

I would make the vet visit sooner than later. UTI can get pretty nasty quite quickly. His peeing out of the box is a classic symptom of a UTI.

His hoarding of shoes is really no different than a cat hiding a stash of toys. Perhaps he is drawn to them because your scent is on it, and when a cat is ill, if he has his owner's scent nearby it can calm him down.

Again, a vet visit quickly is warranted from what you have described.

Good luck!

We will try,but I don't don't when,i hope this month, soon. We will try another litterbox. A vet is always the best. I promise to keep you all posted. It is about 10:25 and Orei is in bed (hogging it I have to sleep on a sleeping bag for now) and he looks pretty comfy. I will keep yall posted, and tell you if he is going to do his shoe thing.

I know,poor Orei!
I feel so bad for him! I feel so fustrated!
We tried giving him medicine,it worked for awhile, then we had to give it to him for another two weeks. He hates it. I can't say I like it either.
Time to try again...... I will call the vet today, and tell you what happenes tonight!
