I brought our new kitten home on Friday and I understand that he is nervous and frightened being in a new place which also has a bigger cat.

But he really does have a gas problem!! and I mean all the time!! his litter tray in the morning is awful - I have never smelt anything like it before - I actually have to take the tray outside for a while and open all the windows and turn the bathroom fan on. I dont have a problem usually with the smells but this one is intense.
And his gas problem is CONSTANT!! I thought it was just when he got frightened - like when Tipsy came up to him, but its not its whenever he is frightened or relaxed or anything!
Last night he was sleeping on my chest while we were watching TV and it was constant!! and every time I think I am going to gag - the poor little fella!!!

anyway - just wanted to know if this is something I should be concerned with? It has only been 4 days - should I give it longer? Should I try changing foods? As I said I have never had this problem before and not sure which way to go.

I am sure there have been posts about this before - but I cant seem to find any.

thanks in advance for any advice

all he has been doing all day is sleeping and meowing constantly - you know that little almost silent type of meowing.
And he hasnt eaten all day - If I pick him up and put him on the floor/ couch then he just sleeps wherever I placed him.
I have checked his body for any sign of tenderness as he wont move around but there doesnt seem to be anything.

am I just being over protective and worrying about nothing?

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
My new kitten Sophie is 9 weeks old today, and she also stank the house out when i first brought her home. She seems to have settled down a lot now though, but if her and Rosie are playing she can let the odd one go

Has he been seen by a vet for a check up at all since you got him?.

Is he drinking ok?. if not, he should be.

To play safe i would ring the vet for advice.

Please keep us informed.

I am so pleased to hear that Sophie did that too!! I guess I was a little concerned because Tipsy has never had a problem like that.

Yes he saw my vet the day after we got him and was given a clean bill of health. No he isnt drinking or eating - but he has hurt his leg... I have posted another post in the cat lounge so I wont post it all again here...

thanks for your reply

Cats really should eat and drink regularly. Not eating can cause organ failure o_O Don't let cats fast. Force-feed liquid food (put stuff in a blender) if you have to. See a vet.

Max had constant bad gas and really stinky stool until we bought Evolution for him (his humans "can't afford it"). So it could be diet.
