Well, I came out to talk with the neighbor about something and found on the sidwalk on front of my house a funny thing to be losing around.

An electoral roll ID. It bears the logo of the electoral comission of PR, and it has a photograph. It has a lot of private info of the person... it has residential address, complete name, SS number among other stuff It also has phone number.

I took it inside not knowing what to do with it. I know where that person lives (its in the town) and could call her with the phone on the card so I can arrange to give it back to her. But at the same time she could freak out.

At the same time, it reads behind as part of the instructions that if this card is found missing drop it in the nearest Mailbox and the Electoral comission will pay the handling.

The things people lose nowadays....
I guess I could drop it tomorrow morning in the mailbox near me and forget about it... but at the same time feel tempted to call the phone number and tell her that I've found her electoral card and arrange so I cna give it to her.

Yeah... I think that's better... and at the same time I am avoiding her the trouble of getting a new card at the Electoral Comission's offices downtown.

I agree you should call her. If this is something important, she's probably going crazy looking for it. She'll be glad that someone honest found it and wanted to get it back to her.

Put it in an envelope & mail it back to her if you don't want to get involved too much. I would not just drop it in the mailbox uncovered.

I think I would simply phone her tomorrow evening to check out... the worsest that can happen is for her not to pickup the card.

I will tell you how it goes.

What's next? A missing foreign passport?

Yes I'd phone her too, because then she has the opportunity of choosing whether she wants to meet you to pass it to her, or she may ask you to mail it to her. Thank goodness someone honest found it.

Well, I called the number... she was there alright. She hadn't even noticed her electoral card was missing. When I asked her name and such and it matched I told her I had found an electoral card with her name and an address and this number. She was denying she had lost it until she said "Let me check my purse"... and it wasn't there.

She is a very friendly lady, and was thanking me for having found it and returning it.
I may ask: What was I worrying about???

She says she will come around my house to pick it up this evening around 4 PM.
