He got his shoes off today! The vet saw no abscesses, and no problems with his feet, so the farrier pulled his shoes. He stood nice and still and un-sedated during the process!

All I have to do now is put a combination of turpentine and iodine on the bottom of his feet to toughen them up. But he is finally barefoot once again!!!

MA that is wonderful!! I can't imagine how pleased you must be, and he must feel so much better! I'll hope everything continues in this positive direction further!!

Thanks! He is a bit ouchy but doing well. The farrier said that he will be tender for a few days till his soles toughen up. He said it is like you wearing shoes for months on end and then one day going barefoot on gravel. Though thankfully our property does not have gravel except in designated spots.

My hubby is so wonderful, he traded a guy who makes this foam cushion type padding (like small packing bubbles) he traded him a custom knife set for 6 months supply of this special stall bedding.
The padding is specifically for horses who founder. And it is high-end expensive as well.
