My girls right eye looks a little red around the lid, and she seems to be swinting. Should I be concerned? Could she be allergic to something? Thanks, you all are so helpful.

It is possible that your little girl has something in her eye that i causing her discomfort. Will she allow you to carefully lift the lid to see if anything is visible. She also could have a scratch on her cornea. It is also possible that she is simply having allergy symtoms. Since this is a new problem, I would have to recommend that you check with your vet. A couple of weeks ago, Sierra's eyes became red around the lids as you described. That same night I observed her wheezing while she was taking a nap. When I notified the vet, she said more kitties than usual are having allergies this year, that the pollen is worse than usual. She said kitties get a double dose of the pollen because they not only breath it in they air, but then they groom it off themselves! She said it would be OK as long as she didn't experince any respiratory distress. The wheezing stoped that same night and has only recurred mildly a couple of times since and her eyes are looking a lot better. The night they were first red, I gently washed the area around them with a warm washcloth. When I posted my concerns, I learned that some members give their kitties allergy medications to treat the symptoms. I'm sure others will have some excellent advice. Thank you for posting your concern about your little girl. Please keep us up to date how she is!

I would just take a cool clean damp cloth and press it once to her eye, gently then release. But i wouldn't recommend peeling up the eyelid at least not right now. See if the cool water will release the irritation in her eye, and if the redness persists or the eye becomes swollen please see a vet-

Thanks so much. I attempted to dab it with a damp cloth and she actually let me do it. So hopefully it helps. Thanks.
