my new kitten coco isn't completely weened..help!

my new kitten is about 6 weeks old i think and at night or during the middle of the afternoon she tries to suckle on my fingers and face... she eats kitten food but she still suckles on me and my sister. how do i get her to stop... i am not getting any sleep and i hate kicking her off the bed. please help me!

Poor little kitten! She is much too young to have been taken away from her momma. This will be normal behavior for her because she was taken from her mother at such a young age.

Perhaps you can get her a stuffed animal to snuggle up to instead of snuggling up to your face.

She is quite young to be away from mom. I would suggest a snugglekittie for her for comfort and companionship.

my first cat didn't do this and we got her when she was 6 weeks old too! that is why i didn't know... i already tried giving her a stuffed animal... she keeps trying to go up to my other cat kia for comfort i think and kia wants nothing to do with her... kia is a very bossy cat and she hisses at coco so i still don't know what to do!

You could try giving your kitten a bottle of kmr to satisfy that sucking instinct. At six weeks, most kittens are still nursing, so she will probably find a bottle very comforting at least. I rescued a kitten at seven weeks, and gave him bottles at least once a day for a couple of weeks. He loved it, and it was a great bonding experience for us. Now he is about 31/2 months, and he doesn't need or even want the bottle any more. It can be very helpful during those very young baby days though.

i got her a nursing bottle today and she chewed the tip off! lol but she did suck on it...she still rather be by my face or hand and i try to get her to stop i tried the stuffed animal again only a different one and she did use that but she still kept me up! she eats her kitten food just fine. she is a long hair kitten and when we got her from the pet store we couldn't tell but her stomach was very small and we could feel her back bone... we have had her for three days now and she seems a lot healthier now... could this be the reason? i think she was taking from her mom way to early...i have a feeling the pet store had her in the cage before she was 6 weeks! her and her brother. well hopefully someone will respond!!! help?¿?

I don't know about Ohio, but here in Virginia it is illegal to sell or adopt out any puppy or kitten before 8 weeks of age (12 weeks is actually recommended). You may want to check on that because if the law is the same in Ohio, this store needs to be reported.

every cat or dog i have ever gotten has been 5 weeks old or older... so i am guessing that their is no age limit...my dog was 5 weeks old when i got him and he was huge! he was fine but he did have a binky we gave him but he is a rottie so i don't know what i am going to do for my kitten! but i will check on the laws here in ohio but thanks!

well i couldn't find anything about how old a kitten or puppy had to be to given away in ohio... if anyone knows anything please post
