Please help!

My 5 month and 3 weeks old kitten Ka is scheduled for an operation (spay) at 10am tomorrow. At 2am I fed the rest and she grabbed a few bites when I wasn't watching (maybe 5 biscuits). Is this detrimental? Should I cancel or proceed with the spay?

Thanks in advance!

Probably the best thing to do is phone the vet and tell them what has happened, ask what they think, but I don't think I would risk it, I think I would cancel, of course that would mean starving him again, but see what more experienced people than I can tell you. Also your vet.

I would proceed, but certainly tell the vet what has happened and let the vet make the call as to whether or not the surgery can go through as scheduled

I also would go and tell the vet about it . I had a problem with one of my femal cats , she snug out from the bedroom in the morning and I did not know if she ate or not . When I went to the vet I told them that she may has eaten this morning but was not sure . So they told me that it was ok and they just going to spayed her very late , like the last one who had to be done that day and she was ok . So ask your vet and see what he/she has to say , each vet is different .

Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for your advice and reassurances!

I managed to call the clinic today, and they said no worries, as the procedure would probably be done at noon, so that gives little Ka 10 hours to digest her food. They'll also do a pre-check to make sure everything is okay before they proceed, so it is quite reassuring.

Thanks again for writing. It means a lot of me at my time of most anxiety that someone reached out and gave advice.

Gratefully,
