I'm starting to worry about my boys.
The diarreha that started last week Friday has not cleared up. I just want to know what's wrong with my babies
I'm starting to worry it's something serious. I was reading about FIP & it dawned on me that I couldn't handle losing either one of them. I want to cry.
I just lost my Smokey in September & I can't handle doing that again. I know it may seem I'm over reacting, but I'm just on the other side of grieving for Smokey. I need to know what's wrong, but my vet said to wait till Wednesday to call her to let her know how they are doing.
I know she's not in the office tomorrow. I'm just going crazy right now

Are you pushing fluids as much as possible? Diarrhea is one of the signs of dehydration. What meds are they on?

Right now they are on Metronitizol. I talked to the vet about dehydration & she felt that as long as they were drinking they would be OK.

NO! NOT the new formula- they have added a derivative of aspirin to it and it is no longer safe to give cats.

Also one of the side effects of Flagyl is diarrhea as well. Just keep pushing fluids as much as you can.

Wow...

Glad I still have some of the old stuff...

I'm gonna have to talk to my vet friend again to look for a similar alternative...perhaps some of the generics out there...

I'd have to stick to the fluid path also...unless the vet says otherwise.

I know I am new here, but when Pete (who else) had that problem, I got some pectin, the type you use to gel jellies and jams. Mixed in a little water and put it in a dropper and shoved it down his throat. A couple of days later he gelled up if you know what I mean. I gave it to him 2x a day. Maybe this will help.

Well I'm happy to report that things looked a little better this morning. Still have loose stool, but it seems to be getting a little less watery every day. Thank you all so much, I just worry about my babies.
